cash game microstakes grinding advice needed..

im concentrating on grinding the microstakes on pokerstars ,ive just started and am unsure of what aims i should have (other than making money) how will i know if im winning to a level where i should move up , what advice can you guys give me on this project , ive been playing for years but after a 4 yr layoff im restarting everything and chnging my whole approach to the game ,trying to be more profesional ,learning the maths ,trying to learn and apply new concepts to me , like fold equity and equity ? so as i said other than watch videos and read books which i do already what do i need to be doing ,thanks in advance for any help

Firstly what bankroll are you starting. depending on the bankroll play the stakes and stop thinking about moving up the stakes anytime soon. That should not be your main focus right now. Since you have been playing so i guess you know most things. But remember bankroll management is the most important in poker. Learning and applying new concepts is good, do that.

To your question what else you need to be doing other than learning new things all the time .... i would say stop always try to enjoy every moment that you play poker. Winning and losing will change from day to day basis but if you are not enjoying every moment of it then it won't be fun anymore.

Start at the bottom with a bank roll of atleast 20 buy ins and move up when your bankroll is large enough to support atleast 20 buy ins of the next level.

Yea great advice from the others. I too am currently grinding it out at the micro levels. I am doing the chris fergonsun challenge. playing off 2 freeroll wins at carbon. I play 2 tables at the micro level, and patience is everything. like suby said bankroll is very important, and also winning and losing will always happen. if you get frustrated take a break. I always recommend 2+2 publishing books, always stay up with your reading and applying new concepts, you took a 4 year break so that's great that you didn't just jump into it and think you remember everything. the game is always changing. Its important to keep up with reading, best advice i ever got from a pro.

IPlay - do you recommend a higher BI roll for multi-tabling? You say 20 BI per stake, which I think is fair and not too nitty (I've seen some suggest as high as 40 on 2+2).

Your primary goal at the micros shouldn't be to make money. How much you can realistically expect to make is limited anyway. If making meaningful money is important, the lowest levels are about getting your game to where it needs to be to be +EV while playing high enough to make that much.
