Any advice being card dead for a certain amount of time in cash games? Such as not getting overs or suited connectors or anything like that.

Keep calm and make your game tighter until you get over this period.

These periods happen but remember you will hit periods where every hand is good too. It will not be even in the short run only over time. If you have a good image at the time this happens you can steal with weak hands especially in late position but if you are getting crushed just tighten up and be patient. If possible focus on what the rest of the table is doing. Live or online take notes or take not of players styles etc. Do this while keeping in mind when you do get cards it will benefit you to know what is going on instead of it feeling like you just entered a new game and got dealt AA and aren't sure how to proceed. Should you raise standard or raise big etc...I do not think it is a good idea to distract yourself with reading or surfing the net, watching TV or whatever but I have to admit once I feel solid on a table it sometimes helps me to be patient if there is a distraction around...I have had Hell's Kitchen running with a table or two up recently online and it has worked well for me.

Be patient or stop play for an hour or few hours. Sometimes you should just wait

If you're in a cash game, just be patient. the blinds aren't going up and you can wait until you start getting good hands again.

If I'm playing cash and I'm card dead for more than 30 minutes online then I'm switching to a different table and/or quitting altogether. There are usually enough tables going on that it should be no problem to switch to another table. If I'm in an MTT there's not much I can do but remain patient. Sometimes you can do nothing more than be card dead. There is one tournament in particular that I've played for the last 4 weeks. The tournament only plays on Sunday, and I've been card dead all 4 weeks, with the exception of the one time I had Aces, went all-in, and lost to 57 offsuit.

Consider your image. If you think your opponents will start thinking, geez this guy hasn't played a hand in an hour. If he bets, I'm autofolding. A good time to bet with any hand that has potential to hit the flop. Say suited two gappers, ax suited, small pocket pairs things like that. I might even do it with Kx or Qx but that's about the worst I'm going. Probably what will happen is you'll raise preflop and everyone will fold, but on the off chance you get to a flop you don't want to be holding two cards that won't even make a straight.

Don't overdo this, but occasionally will help you still get action when you finally do get a high pocket. Of course if you're really frustrated quitting the game is probably the best option.

Yep, keep playing, do not widen your range, do not force spots.

Remember that luck has no memory and by that I mean your odds of being dealt a premium hand does not change from one hand to the next. Keep playing and be patient. Only stop playing if you find it difficult to stay patient. The belief that switching tables or taking a short break will end your cold streak is just superstition and a misunderstanding of varience.

Keep folding... Then while seating at UTG1 you'll see queens and you'll push all in. At the same time some regular sitting in position will see kings and will call you. Then you'll probably break your monitor or injure your right fist. Your cursing and swearing will be heard within 2-3 blocks. That's my vision. It always happens like that.

search for spots and reads on other players, dynamics at tables, that you can (ab)use later on.

Nothing beats patience. But if you simply cannot be patient and wait for good hands, than you can try praying to God for good luck :)

Dead Card

I have found playing 4+ tables that I personally never feel card dead very long at all. Some tables may be card dead for a couple hours or more, but personally there is always something keeping me interested when I have multiple tables up.

If the card is dead for 15-20 minutes and I'm out of the game not to lose and start the next day or the day the mood or wait and gradually lose the hope to win,but I usually leave...a very good side cash games in the tournament does not let see how's your steak eating ante and blingy)))so that the main thing not to go on tilt and to estimate the map and understand that if right now there are no good maps then tomorrow she will be here and all.

Keep your calm, keep your patience and remember to STICK to your strategy no matter what.

If you feel that it is not your day, don't force it to cover the losts because it is very likely that you will go in deeper just because of that starting idea ("recover what I lost"). Remember, tomorrow is another day :)

This is a fact. Every new hand dealt has the same probability of being good or bad.
Just like every new flip of a coin has an equal chance of being Heads or Tails, no matter how many times in a row one has come up previously.

People also talk about long term probability evening out, which is also true.
Which then looks like a contradiction.
The fact still remains though that without a memory, the next hand or flip is still independent of the previous ones.

In real life though we know that variance, hot and cold streaks do exist. The problem we have is that we don't understand them and there is no explanation or solution.

As with other things in life we can't explain, we are tempted towards superstitions to make up for our lack of knowledge.
It might make us feel better or provide an illusion of having something we can do but it is unlikely to actually change anything.

It's like catching a cold, there is no cure, the best remedies can only ease the symptoms, while you ride it out.

Every player goes through these phases, it is a fact of poker. You just have to sit there patiently waiting for the streak to end. The other side of the coin is the winning streak .when you hit every flop, turn or river

yeah dont let it get to you play your game and wait for the good hands, but on the other hand dont be scared to get a little slutty with like 89 suited or 910 suited to try catch one of those rare but sweet situations which any player who knows you ouldent expect you to be holding

Keep playing and be patient, maybe can play more than one table at a time (so do not get bored ;)), but if you have nothing then folds
