Ok, this is how it goes for me often online...spend all day or several days steadily building bankroll at normal stakes for the $ I have. Making good decisions and not doing anything crazy and then BAM! The bad beat happens and I lose a bit...then I have to move up in stakes and play like shit until it's all gone. Or I hit the HU table and play crazy. I've heard all the suggestions...walk away, think of something else, etc. Anybody got any sure fire ways to help?

Thinking about smothing else isn't always a good way because if you're doing it you can't focus totally on your game. I can recommend you listen to good music which makes you calmer :)

Try to calm down for a start, then a walk in the fresh weather, if there is a girl having sex)) also helps)) or if all that did not help themselves by freezing acc for 3 days or a week, all the rules will be, I'm sure!

Hi Sevedeuceoff72. You asked " Anybody got any sure fire ways to help?" What do you expect from us? All of us hear the same things as you do are, and those are the things that work, but you have to do them if you want them to work. You said, "The bad beat happens and I lose a bit...then I have to move up in stakes and play like shit until it's all gone." This tells me that you are your own worst enemy. Why do you move up in stakes after a bad beat, and on tilt, instead of moving down? That tells me that you don't know how, or you are just not using good BRM. One of the worst things you can do is to chase your losses. Those are in the past, and there is nothing you can do about about them. Keep asking questions, and use the advice you are given, and use it at the tables. GL To You

Yea, I'm aware that best case scenario is move down in stakes, not up when you're tilting...that's what this post is all about. I'm just looking for suggestions

Write down on paper a list of tournaments you are going to play each week based on your current bankroll... Do whatever you have to do, call it a contract with yourself and sign it in blood? Then play only those tournaments regardless of results.

is an integral part of poker, you should be able to live with it! You will succeed, be patient! Otherwise, you will not be great!

you need to look at it this way,if youve played the hand correctly when getting the so called bad beat, just take it on the chin,as the best hand will not always win,its called variance.nothing you do will stop this happening, but you can alter the way you react when facing a bad beat.its in your hands how you choose to react or not.good luck.

first step is to take the walk is always a good ideal. I dont tilt much can count on a hand for a very long time. I did this weekend but was more about my life then about poker which caused a tilt my mind was not up to par as is most of the time since I play cause love to play. I got mad tilted got a good finish and was still pissed off so walked out of two games I was probably going to money in. I needed the walk away knowing what to do when to do it is everything. Chasing money is always imho a mistake. If your not at your best youll lose a lot more and then be in a worse situation. So take the walk come back when mentally prepared. Do not expect to win every time just play your best and be happy with the results of doing the correct things in the right frame of mind and the results will come back to your favor and will handle tilt better the next time.

See Sevendeuceoff72, everyone is saying to get away from the tables for awhile, but it don't have to be a long time. If it didn't work for them, they would not tell you it did. I don't know how many hours you play, but if you are playing long hours, that's a real killer Many of us long term players play 5 or 6 hours unless we have a big MTT we want to play that takes 12 or more hours but has a big prize pool. That's probably just once in awhile because it takes so much out of you. Many may tell you, that they take the next day away from poker because of that. Just one more thing. Sevendeuceoff72, when you take a bad beat, don't just throw the rest of your money or chips in the pot for nothing. Have you ever heard the saying that it only takes a chip and a chair to come back? It's true. Ask anyone how many times they have come back with very little left, but you can't do that if you go ahead and take yourself out. GL to you

i think you rush and dont have patience. When you feel yourself dont have patience to play the game proper then yes have a break. And dont rush to make money or regain your lost money.

Calm down and then continue.Take a break and analyze the game with the help of additional software.

You must be strict with yourself ... Set limits, so you avoid big mistakes.

In fact, in my opinion and based on what I know you are tilting when this happens to you. I advise you to set a buy ins limit. For example: If you lose two buy ins in the day, you have to stop playing immediately and give a time of an hour or more, or even play no more that day. Another thing is to not go up the limit while you do not have a bankrooll to do this. Every time you have 100 times the value you want to play, then go up to the next limit, if you lower the value 100 times you should go down to the limit below. I think this might help you. Stay calm and do not go up in bounds without having the necessary bankrooll.

I used to have the same problem when I started playing online. After awhile I've learnt and got into a habit of taking a break after something frustrating happens at the table. Have lunch, a snack it doesnt matter. The main thing is to clear your mind so your able to play again without being frustrated.
