cant play cash games on line

i live in the united states of america and as far as i know cant play online for real $.a large part of the discussions seem to center around on line play. i could be wrong about that but can i use the advice given about micro stakes on line cash games and use it at my casino live 1$-2$ cash game that i play?

Myself I find .01/.02 NL or the lowest at the online poker room plays about the same at $1/$2 NL or the lowest at the casino.
