Hello guys, I've been to Card Chat for a couple of months now. Though I'm not posting inputs here, i've been reading posts almost everyday for my own personal gain..I found most of the thread here really helpful and i am thankful that i joined card chat.:) I play cash games most of the time, although i join tourneys from time to time. What I want to share with you guys is what happened to me yesterday in 3-6 NLHE Cash game.. I was playing for almost 4 hours already and i'm already up by $324. So I said to myself, im just going to play a few more hands, then i will leave the session at least winning $300. I already said to myself that i will only raise AA, KK, and limp QQ, mid pairs, small pairs (if i'm in late position), AK AQ, AJs & A10s, and fold everything else. I am under the gun, with an Ad10d, and i decided to limp in with it, then 5 people call including the small blind. The Big Blind raises it with 11BB or $66.I was first to act after that, and it puts me in a quandary. I know that this is an auto fold- i' m already winning, im out of position, then there are 5 more people behind me. but i really have a hunch that im going to hit the flop hard. the raiser is not that tricky, and maybe he is stealing the pot with the big overbet, but i still give him credit for a big cards, probably QQ, AKs, AQs,AJs, or middle pairs. I'm contemplating that if i call his bet and nobody reraises, and i didnt hit the flop, i can easily fold after the flop, with a $258 winnings. But the downside of it is that I will not reach that $300 win which i had set earlier on. So after one a half minute, i decided to fold, which i know is the best move. But 3 people call and the small blind folds. The flop is 10 8 3 rainbow. The BB bets $100, 2 people call-the other one is short stack already, so he's all-in. The Turn is A and the River is also an Ace. The remaining caller is all in after the turn. The BB shows AQo and won almost $640 plus pot. I know that it is useless to whine about this, but $640 is $640. If you were in my situation, would you be willing to gamble an extra $60 just to see the flop, and be rewarded big time out of it. Up to this time, I still can't get over with it.. by the way, i left after that hand and decided to call it a day. I may get on tilt because of that.. ;) Hoping for your good advices to ease up some pain on my part..LOL Thank you for reading this. :):):)

Fold pre in that spot and forget what you folded the moment you do it.

Not to be rude, but that really wasn't a big fold. Nor should it have been.

You must realize that you're just pissing money away every time you "take he gamble"

You stated that you thought his range was any big Ace and any big pair, which pretty much has you dominated all around. The only board you'd feel half good about continuing on is A 10 10 or the miracle 10 10 10 board. Anything else just gets you into alot of trouble.

Good fold. Just next time do it sooner in that spot.

The moment you said to yourself that you would deviate from playing your normal game - the game that got you your stack - is when you should have stood up and gone home.

It's not productive and can even be counter-productive to focus any attention on money you could have won by playing sub-optimally.
