So i deposited 20 bucks on NY's and have really concentrated on playing good poker. I am playing 2NL (i know the stakes are too high but i have no choice) and really using tips ive learned from this forum (position, value bets, no bluffing, etc) but am still not excelling. I am up to 24 bucks because of a lucky streak yesterday but have been down to 6. I am overrun by donks and chasers. Not sure how you guys can help but im getting frustrated here. Is there a micro thread that someone has made on how they crushed? I'm tired of being beaten by someone who calls my raise preflop with 7-5 off and hitting.

People are going to get lucky with 5-7 on you sometimes. That's variance at work.

Playing poker for profit is a grind. The downswings can be horrific. Over the long term, variance is eliminated. Profits come to those who are patient, and make the right decisions most.

You could be in a funk right now. However, the fishies who are playing 5-7 OOP will soon be helping your BR increase. Play solid ABC poker, and don't tilt.

These chasers and bad players are pumping chips into the poker economy every day. Be patient, and exploit them in the long run.

I recommend reading "Crushing the microstakes". It's almost like a step to step instruction to owning the fish at these levels.
Using Holdem manager 2 or Poker Tracker 4 is mandatory. There are trials available for both programs in case you havent bought one of them yet. If you have, post your stats here for analysis.
A good sample to start analysing your game would be ~10'000 hands, however the most primitive leaks like VPIP/PFR percentages could be seen from almost any sample size.

I would suggest either finding a site with lower stakes or upping your BR if possible. 12 Buy Ins isn't going to get you very far.

Hmmm...when did Bovada start offering 2nl? I believe 5nl is the smallest stakes possible at Bovada.

CTM is an excellent book written by Nathan Williams, known as BlackRain79. He is a coach at Drag the Bar poker training and also is a member of this forum. He's a proven crusher at microstakes. You can read more about the book in this Cardschat thread. His website is here.

Crushing the Microstakes is a really solid guide to basic play at the micro level. It could definitely help you with your game.

And change your poker site if you can. Poker tracker software really gives you an edge, as well as helps you to analyse your own game.

I have a buddy who just started playing 2NL on Carbon poker and I hear the same things from him a lot. Usually its just 1 or 2 hands a session that he makes a big mistake with, but really if you just play tight and bet your hands hard when you hit you should do alright over 10,000 hands. Try value betting more when you hit and less when you don't If you are watching videos and reading about 200NL you are missing value from uNL players.

You can do a lot of things that you couldn't at higher stakes, esp bodog! bet 1/2 pot when you miss the flop and bet pot when you hit, making exploitable plays like this will make a huge difference in your showdown and non-showdown winnings... Just my 2c though :)

although you can't use the HUD with HM2 or PT4 on Bovada, there is now a HH converter that will convert the Bovada hands into a readable format so you can import them into HM2 or PT4, etc. So you can do some analysis, see stats, graphs, etc.

I recently played a ~1k hands in 2nl and what I can advise you is: Stay calm and do your best, but don't give them much credit when the villan might raise you. Usually they will call flop call turn and just raise the pot to win it with no pair.

I got to disagree, best to assume they aren't bluffing because, well, most of the time they aren't
