Maybe the best practice is "it depends." The nature of this question examines C bet frequency. Given that a number of basic variables complex variables conspire in any given circumstance such stack size, stakes, holdings, position, etc. , what are some basic rules, guidance, feel that you use to determine whether to fire or not? Do you adjust your C bet size if you miss? Can you C bet too much?

i think 99 % of time you should c bet but say you flop the nutts and you know villian two is ultra aggro sometimes checking twice makes him go all in so got to think things through. This is a thinking game you have to have a feel for your opponents and you NEED to get paid off. Especially when you got it :)

i usually cbet around 65% of the time...i think flop texture v opponents range v your range plays a part in determining when to cbet or not....

for example if you are on the Button and an UTG open raises, and you call, then the flop comes AAK, whos range does that hit more? would you flat AA,AK,AQ or 3bet?...would you call with AJ-AT to an UTG open...assuming that the opponent is 'decent'...

maybe 70% is the optimal frequency from what ive read? ...maybe thats changed since its been a few years when i looked at that..

i think cbets have to make sense in either going for value or exploiting equity edges v the opponent...if we are just cbetting without putting much thought into it and doing it 100% of the time, how many turns/rivers are we seeing also...and how much are we winning v losing when we have to continue after the initial cbet?...

if we just cbet then give up on the turn, can that get exploited?

you said 99% ...thats more than sometimes ;)

can you rep every single flop that drops? and at the same time, assume the opponent has missed every time?

for me, it depends on position/action/opponent reads ''if any'', flop texture, my perceived range that hits or misses, their probability of hitting something based on pre flop action etc...

you can fire it 100% and we will get folds or value if we are betting for that, but what about the problems we can get into on future streets when we miss and the opponent wants to go to showdown, because he connected hard and knew that we had nothing to rep on particular boards?

No,you can`t `rep` every single flop, but i think what the tick is saying is you have to be aggressive and use your chips to get info on your opponent,,,the only way is to throw chips around sometimes,,,yes it costs u sometimes,,,but that`s the beauty of the game,,,isn`t it? Cheers:cool:

It depends. If you're pretty tight pre you can credibly cbet more often than if you lag it up pre. Either way you always have to consider the number of players you're up against and their tendencies as well.
