Absolutely not! A pretty standard strategy is to play tight in early position and widen your range with each potion until you're the button. The button is where you would have your widest range of hands.

position matters, but its no good if your cards aren't.

should you only play hands from the dealer button

certainly not.Button is true that the position brings many advantages.
a large percentage of hands played in position button will bring you benefits if you play properly

Playing on the button it's the best because you gained information what your opponents can have.

For example Let's say you're first to act and have QQ , you raise and guy on the button reraise you big - and know you have difficult decision to make - is he has AA or KK ?? What should I do ??

If you'll play QQ on the button and only one guy raises small IMO it shows that he doesn't have AA or KK (unless this guy is smart and try to mask his AA)

Even when you're on the button QQ and someone raises big or go all in you don't lose any money because you saw what's happened (if you'll raise early position and someone will go all in on the button if you fold you still lost some money)

What do you think about small ball players, like Negreanu?
You could play a huge amount of cards on the button, where most people wouldn't even bother.
So relatively bad cards could be used and you could rely mainly on your position.

Definitely an advantage especially by gaining info about what other players are holding.

No that's no criteria! The positions on a table represent only their strategic standing. If you are in an early position like SB, BB, UTG you don't know how strong the following players might be, if you are on the button you might see how strong the previous players are and you can react...

IMO that can be used only at mid/high stakes or when you're facing a TAG/nit because at freerolls and micros no one cares if someone is reraising on the button (they will call or 4bet with trash very often)

You are in the button, you have position taking advantage, means you have more information of other players and take that advantage to play based on that information, for example by opening more your range of hands.
