Being a relatively new player, I suffer burn out, lots....
And when I do play, I play stupid....
Is there a period of time, that I should wait to play, after getting burned out?
Think that I need to learn more patience.....

In such a situation it is better to get distracted than something else, for example picnics or fishing, walks. Try playing poker in a hobby, enjoy any game. And for a good and correct game you need training, studying strategy. For training very well fit freerolls. Good luck at the tables!

Hi Fastone2, That another subject that's talked about a lot here. I do the same thing. I get burned out from playing to much. My 1 1/2 months downswing has in away been a blessing. I played less than I would if I was on a good upswing. For me, playing to much without a day break along the way I get to thinking about many things that has nothing to do with what I'm doing, which is a sloppy way to play. And when I'm burnt out I start checking out what's on FB or something else. So it's really like I don't give a shit about the poker game and I'm looking for something interesting to get all the poker things off my mind. The best thing you can do during those never ending times is to either get away from the computer for a day or two, or just pick one game for that day, and if you do that, do it and don't say oh well one more won't hurt. You have to take care of your health, and your mind needs a rest. At one time I was playing some long hours and after awhile my whole body hurt, and still I kept playing even if my mind was saying please please please rest me awhile. Poker should be fun and exciting, instead of a hard ship on me or you. Do something for yourself and take a break for at least 2 days. It will be worth it. GL to you

Maybe try to spend more time improving your game, ie watch videos, post hands, study icm, etc etc.

I think with poker as with any activity you need to be careful with frustration... Sometimes when things dont go your way you need to take a step back and relax, rearrange your thoughts... dont go at it for a while.. let your brain breathe and come back later when you feel comfortable enough to take on the task (being poker is this context), whether that takes 5 minutes, 5 hours or a day.

Hope it helps. Keep at it.

Burnout is a sure fire way to lose your money. It would help to be critical of yourself, in a positive way, and understand what your burnout signs are, when you notice them walk away, the game will still be there tomorrow.

It might also help to try to manage it if in an MTT, put on some headphones, have a coffee or just get up and have a walk about to get the blood flowing.

You need to find yourselff when your ok to play..to invest money...and when to stop...

Dont blame soft..fish...nothing is loosing your hands/money is just you and your decisions.

I still look for my balance til then i wont invest more than 15-20$ from time to time in my poker.
