Hello, I deposited 25 dollars and built it up to 30 dollars but I got a good run of cards, and got lucky. I've lost $10 over the last couple of days and want to be able to build up a bankroll to around $40-$50 so I can then play cash games and learn to be a winning player. Anyway, what would be the most conservative way to try and build it up again?

Play some freerolls.

You have to play likewise the lowest stake/buyin available for real games.

Cash games for example, have to get the lowest buyin and not the maximum.

Thats conservative for me.

With 20$ you have to play the lowest buy in cash games (1c/2c blinds) or u can play micro multi table SnG (50c or 1$ buy ins) and try to be among top 3

being top 3 as a newbie sounds hard to do
I am trying the same except with 7$ now (I was down to 4 50). I am making gains I think but I one table and it's SLOW (but that's probably my fault )
On william hill on the other side I had 7, donked 3, regained them and I think that site I can beat. I just start a tab there when I one table on stars and just play the good hands and I simply win (well, till now ). That lost on hill was do to not folding an AA

Everyone has pretty much covered this topic, I would add to use sound BRM. Also, play any and all freerolls you can, as they don't cost you a dime, but could increase you bankroll! Another thing is to look in the private section of the lobby, and try to get in on some good freerolls and/or money added games. That is the easiest and fastest way to build a bankroll. Best of luck.

I have no problem getting top 3 in microstake sit n gos, it's just getting 1st is difficult, and anything other than 1st just frankly isn't worth the effort.

Play the lowest stakes with the min buy-in. Remember, you're grinding, not gambling.

be patient, play low level cash games, I prefer pot limit, if your a good/decent player you should not go broke on low pot limit games

What is your strongpoint? Cash/SnG/MTT's. Stick to your strongpoint and solid BRM and you will build it up.

You can play some free roll tournament, and play the smallest stake cash game, be tight up, then you can earn some money.

Play at limits that you can afford and not risking your bankroll. You wont be facing huge dents in your bankroll that way if that is what you mean by being conservative.

I lost that bankroll. However, I reloaded 40 dollars and I'm now studying a poker book to try build it up to around $100. That's my goal anyways.

keep grinding 2NL, it's pretty easy to beat even if you're not a very strong player, as long as you're playing tight/nitty you'll beat 2NL for a profit.

BRM suggests 100 buy-ins.
Even at micros (lets say 2NL) your BR of $25 can get you 12 buy-ins.

you only have 12 buy-ins compared to the suggested 100 buy-ins.
even if you reduce the suggestion by half to 50 buy-ins, you're still a bit off.

keep grinding and 'DO NOT move up the ladder till you have the BRM of at least 50 buy-ins'.

If you want to build a bankroll from freerolls you must play all the freerolls you can.

The best for br building will be Cardschat freeroll.

Monthly leader board and 3 months leaderboard like BankrollMob.

And speciel freerolls like football fever.

Also do sat freerolls.

Still on 40 dollars lol. I lose a few dollars then win a few dollars so just trying to study the game as much as possible and hopefully not lose my roll in the process. This roll is mainly a learning roll. If I lose it then it's whatever, I can just reload and learn from my mistakes. No biggie. Thanks for asking man!

What are you mainly playing now? Cash? SnG? MTT?
Also, my rule of thumb for BRM for SnG is like 40x buy-in, 20x max buy-in cash, 100x buy-in MTT. But that works for me. But I don't play much cash and when I do usually don't reload if I bust at the table. SnG/DoNs I usually have good enough winrate/ROI on those 40 buy-ins is plenty for me. MTT's well those can swing either way so 100x works pretty well for me. Occasionly I might dip over though but only maybe by like a $1+ then my guidelines and not regulary.

Try to focus as much as possible on learning to play well enough to beat entry-level games, and not on the amount of money you win or lose while improving enough to do so. In the big picture, even if you only become a modest winning player at the micros, your long-term winnings can add up to thousands of $. So how much does it really matter if you lose a few $ starting out, especially since you should only play with $ you can easily afford to lose.
