Hi all,

I deposited $15 eight months ago and have been playing $1.50 and $3.30 sit n gos. I currently have around $28 and would like to take my poker to the next level.
The most I've had is around $60 and the lowest is around $9.

What number of fields should I be playing to try and increase my bankroll?

At the start I played 6, 12 or 18 players now I have moved onto 45 players and have cashed a few times.

I'm prepared to put in more money to start the next stage of my poker career. I've read that you need around 20-30 buy ins so you can cope with the swings of a poker player.

Also, I have never muti tabled, is that a good idea to increase your bankroll?

Thanks in advance.

Kevin

Don't move up stakes and learn to multi-table at the same time, but of course multi-tabling will increase your volume, so it'll help you build your roll. I understand bankroll management standards to generally be 50 buy-ins for sit-n-go play, but that's relative. It's always nice to have extra cushion and a lot of these questions can only truly be answered by you, but just remember not to over-extend. 20 buy-ins sounds like taking a shot to me.

you should have minim 50 buyins or max 100buyin from this level eg: you have 67$, you have to play tournaments of 1$, and when you have more than 100, you can change the level if you are felling good in this level and dominated, and you should multi-table, start with 2 tables, and then opening 3, 4 when you are felling that you can play at the same level all the tables

Thanks guys, I'm not too bothered about moving up levels although I know that's how my bank roll with improve.

If I stay at $3.30, what number of playing fields is best to increase my bankroll? Should I stay at 45 people or maybe try and move up to 180 players?

Thanks

Play what you most enjoy, are most comfortable with and will prove the most profitable for you......only you can really answer that.

Also 20/30 buyins would be more of a agressive/ok brm for cash tables, I'd suggest 50-100 (i'd lean closer to 100, but single tabling 50 should be decent) for sng's up to perhaps the 180 man's and 150-200 for any fields larger.

The game you play will not necesarily determine your br improvement.......technically i could suggest playing the sunday million if your just looking for the score that will boost your br the most.....but it comes down to skills, ability to improve your game (don't focus on bankroll, that will come with improving your game plain and simple), and solid brm to ensure that if you are a winning player you will not go bust during the ups and downs of varience and have a cushion to improve when moving to new levels.

If you going to play 3.30$ 45 or 180 mans, I'd suggest you have a min 200$ br. You currently have 28$ so find whatever the abs lowest limit on the site is and play it until you see a stead increase in your br over a significant sample (for 9man stt's, talking 500-1000 games to start).

What site do you play? If you play stars and like the 45 man games then grind the 25c 45 mans until you have a 50$ br and then move into the 50c 45mans and so on and so forth. Good Luck

Thanks BluffMeAllIn, yes I play pokerstars. All good advice. I will see how I get on.

Are there any other sites that you recommend that have good bonuses?

cardschat has some bonuses through various sites and a great review section:
https://www.cardschat.com/poker-site-reviews.php

If you haven't accounts anywhere besides pokerstars its a great opportunity to link through cc and support a great community that can help you through any poker woes and improve your game.

ftp has a 100% to 600$ clearable first time deposit bonus, but should be mention of others through the link above as well like 888 and carbon, bovada.

It's unlikely that the size of the fields you play is the main reason your BR hasn't grown. Sure, your game may be somewhat better suited to STTs or MTTs, but at the levels where you are, it's not particularly difficult to beat both. You simply need to improve enough to do so instead of hoping that changing field sizes will be an instant, no-work fix.
