Thats how i got started. Jump on pokerstars they have poker school too which I think gives you bonuses and they have loads of freerolls, most are for tickets to a weekly tourney but it means you get lots of chances to get into it. Plus they have a freeroll a few times a day that is pretty good if you have patience and a few hours to spend.
Full tilt also has freerolls for tickets that you can save up and have multiple entries into a weekly tourney which gives you more chances to win if you can multitable.
And 888 has snap freerolls which are kind of crap but it's a start.

i strongly advise you to skip all the public freerolls. you want to find private freerolls with around .50c - 1.00 per person in a tourny. so an ideal tourny would be like $200 pot with 200 people registered.

playing against hundreds of a people for a $25 pot is pretty crazy as a time investment. im sure you can make more collecting loose change off the street

I thought the point was that he had no bankroll to begin with.. some people don't have the means to top up to begin with eg credit card or skrill etc
Also the pokerstars $100000 privilege freeroll is a min of $1000pot plus rebuys so usually ends up being around $1300. The tickets you get off most other freerolls are for a tourney that has about the same size pot so really aslong as your good enough to hit somewhere around top 30 you make enough to start out at some small ring games. Its also good practice doing free tourneys and getting used to the sites layout and players for free before actually spending your hard earned $$$. It's a good start compared to the other freerolls like bankroll mob etc only having a $25 pot.

JACQUI, I think your comment about practice is the most relevant. Collecting change off the street does not build one's poker playing experience. Especially when starting out, gaining experience might be more important than the money. Playing freerolls at least has more potential opportunities than play-money.

Thanks :) and as a bonus you still have the potential to make money while you do it.
Hope I helped.

I play quite often in these tournaments, the goal to win the tournament, or to get to the prize, the main thing at the initial stage not to make mistakes, to play only strong hands

Very, very hard and time consuming.

I think its good to play them to get the idea of the game and get practice... but ultimately I would recommend depositing, even if its only something small like $50

if you play CC freerolls

I have built a roll of more than $50, playing non-CC freerolls almost exclusively. To clarify, I also played two sessions of NL2, where I made $1.00-2, each time. I do not think that either of you are incorrect. It is true that it is difficult and can be time-consuming, but it is not completely necessary to deposit, nor is it necessary to only focus on CC freerolls. Though I now realize that you didn't imply focusing solely on CC freerolls, I do see many people on these forums making such a claim. Both are helpful, but they are not wholly necessary.

My mother always told me to marry rich so I would not have to make these kind of decisions. Sure wish I had listened to her.

very possible, especially if you are just starting. There are a lot of promotions out there for new players that offer freerolls, free starting bankrolls and such. I would start by looking through all the possibilities first and then picking your best option. Good Luck!

I have dabbled with researching this but it almost sounds too good to be true

It's not too good to be true. I got $5 to start off at both Carbon and ACR. I don't know how I qualified, but ACR emailed me after I had been signed up for a couple of weeks. I received a coupon from Carbon within a day of signing up. On intertops, I somehow received $25 for free, upon sign-up. I have no idea how, but I must have signed up through an affiliate link, or something. To be clear, I'm not telling you how to get these bonuses, because I really don't know how I got them. I just mean to let you know that the offers are out there. Some sites have stipulations, though. If you were to build from a free bonus, I think most sites require a minimum deposit, if you want to eventually withdraw. I don't know, though. And, just a reminder, it's totally possible to build through freerolls alone, should you be unable to find a current offer for free starting cash.

sign up with bankroll mob, they show you what no deposit bonuses you are entitled to in your country etc and make them really easy to sign up for.
