I have been playing NO Limit Holdem for a while now. I have won and cashed in many tourneys but in cash games I haven't been the best. I try applying BRM and Discipline but it seems like I always fall and lose my BR. I will be doing good for a couple days but then I will start to lose a few buy-ins and then I will move up and try to get my loses back. This never works because I just lose my whole ROLL. :frown: I have done this many times. Sometimes it works but most of the time it doesn't work. I know I am a good player, but I want to become a winning player. I know If I can't control myself and be more disciplined becoming a winning player will not happen in the future. If anyone has or is going through the same thing with BRM and Discipline all info and advice is welcome. I am always willing to listen and learn more about the game of poker... Thank you

Buy Tilt Breaker. Set a number of BI loss to stop you from playing for 24-48 hours and block one stake for a month. Hide the Cashier.

Yes def. dont go UP in stakes when your having a down swing. If anything go down.I know it seems like you could get everything you lost back quick (and maybe 1 outta 5 times you do)but those other 4 times are gonna kill your roll.Try what swing says about getn tiltbreaker.

Does TiltBreaker work for all poker software? I usually Play on ACR or BCP.

Whenever you are on a downswing, instead of trying to move up and make back losses (which never works because you are on tilt and are trying to "make things happen"), just stop playing. And start studying.

If you have tracking software (recommended, but not necessary) go through your hands from the previous session. Winners and losers. Ask yourself questions as to why you made certain actions and be honest with yourself about your reasoning.

Also, take some time to go over threads here on CC. You'd be amazed on what you pick up even just by scanning over strat threads.

I'd recommend a 60/40 split between playing and study for a while until you get yourself back on an even keel. Myself and many other competent players devote at least a few hours a week, if not more, to purely analysis and study.

So next time you hit a downswing, either due to variance or poor play, just STOP PLAYING and start study. You'll cool down and when you do get back into play, you'll be a better player and the wins will come back.

I never understood the mentality of someone trying to win back their loses by playing against harder competition. If you keep this mentality up you will never have success in poker. There is not much advice that you can get to help you with this problem, you just need to gain self control.
