So im starting to get back into playing after a few years off, im looking at the different US sites, been playing the free rolls on those sites to get a fell for the game again.

Now ive never been a full time aspiring to be pro player, but i do like the game and it wouldnt hurt my feelings if i won a little money, but ive found at the free rolls, with so many players in the game that i dont seem to have the patience to make it through before im shoving all in with a hand i know i shouldnt be.

Is this something that anyone else has gone through or should i maybe stick to smaller SnG type games?

You are not alone. Any game that's going to take more than 2 hours to get to the final table is too long for me.

I don't get "shovey" but get "bluffy" just trying to make something happen.

The same thing for me too, when i feel tired of the game i try to do something else while playing poker: watching films, some physical exercises etc. Also you may try to switch to 9 or 27 men SnG's

I've been playing a lot of freerolls as well. They are very high variance so I always try to have 2-3 going at a time (you never know when you will lose to a crazy player). Taking breaks once in awhile is also good. During freerolls I will watch ept reruns etc. though I won't if I'm playing cash tables or decent buy-in tourneys. Gl out there!

You can't win a MTT in 1 hour, but you can lose them in 1 hour. Keep that in mind when you register. Only play when you are able to play for hours to ship it. Would be stupid if you register a game because you are bored but have to do something in the next hour.

Play what ever you feel like, but before you register a game make a rough gues on howlong the MTT will take and if you want to play for that long. If not stick to smaller SNG's untill you feel like playing for longer.

Hi Elivo. You sure are not the only one this happens too. I think at times it happens to all of us. About 2 months ago I was like that for several weeks. All the advice above is good, and you are doing the right thing by posting and talking about it. Then you know if we can over come it, you can too. Try it all, and see what works for you. And GL to you.

At the moment i am actually trying to condition myself for the longer hours. I find it hard to make the transition from a 2 -4 hour event (45 man 90 man 180 man) to the larger 1K + events, its like i hit a wall in an MTT an just cant chip up anymore.

Ive had 1 good (9th) finish in a $2.75 deep stack but 10.5 hours for 30 bux kinda hurt. i survive 2 more spots and its a good day.

After the bubble im trying not to play mediocre hands just to kill boredom. And play my bigger hands in varying ways of aggressiveness.

any 1 else have any tricks to kill the down time?

If you don't want to be playing more games at a time, use half of your monitor screen for the poker table you are playing on, and the other side for a tv show/ movie. That way time goes much faster and u don't get bored as much. Also, if you have dual monitors, that's even better.

I'll probably only play CC free rolls on ACR, but I've been inactive for so long I need some time to re establish myself on the forums before I'm able to get back into the free roll club

taking notes on players is one way to reduce boredom. just concentrate on 2-3 players who are in playing more pots. this narrows down the number of people you need to look at instead of the whole table. i usually go for the big stacks or aggressive players because they tend to play a lot of hands.

Thanks all for the advice, I noticed on betonline, you seem to get moved to different tables so quickly you hardly get time to get a solid read on everyone at the table. ACR I didn't have that issue nearly as much.
