well is tricky.
Ok. you have 88 and the pot is A J 9. If you raise big the others could think you have A or J or JJ .
You have 10 9 and the pot is 7 8 K. You raise big because you may catch a straight with turn 6 or J. (semibluff)

A semi bluff you have a chance of winning whether or not your opponent folds. A bluff your opponent must fold in order for you to win.

A semi bluff gives you two ways to win
1. Either your opponent folds
2. You can improve your hand on turn or river
eg.

With semi bluffing you may win at showdown, but with bluffing you have no showdown value

They got a list of types of bluffs there. The article advocates not bluffing. But you should bluff against some players. Maybe look at your opponent's stats and what they do in certain situations to determine whether you should or not. Like if they fold to continuation bets a ton, take advantage of it.

Semibluffs are a type of bluff. Someone mentioned knowing when to use em. If you're playing against a guy who won't fold to the semibluff, make sure he'll call a larger bet in a later street that will make the money in the semibluff worthwhile if you do hit.

Cardchat has a strategy article about semibluffing:
https://www.cardschat.com/semi-bluff.php
Goes a bit more in detail about when to semi bluff.

The chance of you winning bluffed is only if your opponent fold. Already in a semi bluff, you have a good chance of hitting your game showdown, often on the turn or river, after already facing the flop (a good example is you have a draw)

They've pretty much explained it above.. make sure to properly bluff/semi-bluff that you do not make spewy bets or make out-of-the-ordinary bets.

Hi y'all here is my take on bluffing.;) Early in the game you may get away with a bluff, but not likely. Show solid play throught out the game so the players think you would never bluff. If you intend to win a tourney, use the cards first.

sippy don't know your game yet, but usually some are agressive, some lie in wait. Both are good methods.

Bluffing is very good to catch them off guard. When they are in the routin of the game throw a bluff with a connector suited up front of the Big Blind. If you have set the table up correctly you will be rewarded.

TY,
Sippy:congrats:

Don't bluff without outs if you're a beginner. That's going to get you in trouble.
Also minimize your bluffing frequency at micro stakes, or better said, you should rarely (never) bluff at micros.

 For what it is worth. A bluff is a play you need sometimes. If the cards are coming your way, you will seldom need the play. However, in desperate situations, you may be advised to use it. Allin is an equalizer. . Remember they never know what your cards are and they assume it is JJ, QQ, KK, Or AA-AK.
Pick the correct spots with any two cards. Most will fold and ya are in a showdown for the game.

Most common type of semi bluffing is when you barrel on the streets with a flush draw. This is because as you keep betting you have nothing if the hand stops there, so can be called a bluff but it is also a kind of value bet for if you hit the flush, as the pot is massive for the river.

bluffing is when you have absolutely nothing at the moment and absolutely no project of a hand at turn and river. A semi bluff is when you hit something like a low pair or when you still have a chance of win with a bigger hand, possible sequence, flush, bigger pair, hands like that.
