okay real general question here.... but under what circumstances do you most often bluff to take down a pot?
how many opponents? what street? preflop conditions?
but most importantly how often ??????
i ask this because i think ive got a good strategy when bluffing but may be doing it to often or too noticeably?
also please specify game type/stakes/ anything you feel is relevant ...
thanks guys ....lets improve my bluffing game.

This is so situational you can't even say "when" unless you are in a hand was a particular oppoant.

You don't just ramdomly "bluf" someone because you can..there has to be a reason. I see people all the time try bluff pots in the 2c/5c games purely because they think it looks good to bluff or they feel good about bluffing yet they haveno logically reason for the bluff in most cases.

Not sure why you want to improve on your bluffing game? It's handy if you're playing agaisnt someone who is a thinking player and puts you on a range of hands, if a scare card comes which is likely to of improved the hand range they put you, then this would be an example of a perfect time to bluff.

In most cases though, work on your game as opposed to bluffing.Bluffing comes in time and really is over used imo in situations which don't need to be bluffed on.

Just about everyone bluffs the most on the flop (c-bets).

i bluff the most on the flop. I typically will bet the majority of flops when i raise pre. What u need to keep in mind when bluffing flop is opponent, the flop, and multi way pots. tight player ill bet every flop till he plays back at me. loose player ill more so semi bluff. When the flop comes off 338 ill bet when flop comes Akj ill prob not try any bluffing on the flop, ill see how hand plays out. Multi way pot are more difficult becuase more people are in it, this is where position is huge. if it is heads up chances are neither player hit flop and a bluff ill work in your favor.
Dont bluff so much on turn and river because if person has called you down so far chances are they will on river. You just need to be more positive of what they have when bluffing turn or river.

Thank you sir very helpful. I do have a little trouble letting the hand go after cbetting on a missed flop.... will definitley work on not wasting chips on the the turn and river when its obvious im behind.

Its pretty fun to bluff. And pretty addictive.
Oh, and I use the 97-3 rule, 3% I have an actual hand, 97% not so much.

Bluffing lost me money. Tried bluffing in micros and they will either continue or go all in. Only certain cirmstances do i try to bluff. Have the nuts or i have a good read on my opponents.

Bluff in spots when your range beats their range and when it's hard for them to have the nuts.

lower limit bluffing is very tough as well. playing 1/2 nl i rarely put my buy in on the line with a bluff. But i will bluff the flop a large amount of the time, in relation to the game my continuation bluff is risking,$20-40 each time. You really need to understand your opponents most lower limit games people don't have the sense to fold because ppl love hands like top pair and pp. I have seen it far to many times a 4 card straight or flush on the board and ppl are calling others down with top pair. ppl need to realize top pair is nothing special come the river, most people don't realize that unless you are playing higher limits. end note: if people will not muck medium hands dont bluff them

You bluff with the nuts? Lol, I think you might want to go look up the definition of bluffing.

As for when to bluff. Bluff on boards that hit your range harder than their range and when their range consists of hands that can't continue profitably against your range.

Edit: this advice is for when you play someone who isn't braindead, if they don't think in ranges it will be hard to get them to lay anything down.

Well I was thinking of other games i play instead of just holdem. I read to fast and mistyped, didn't realize the topic was holdem. I realize if you have the nuts you aren't bluffing mistake in type.

I tend to bluff when I think other player will fold (or when I think other player 'can' fold).

It's player- and situation-dependent. Toward one end of the spectrum, you want to reduce your frequency vs calling stations. Toward the other, you can bluff more than average against nits. But it can be far more complicated than just that. For instance, there are multi-street bluffs where you actions need to tell a consistent story as opposed to times where you only intend to take one stab.
