Interested on peoples comments.

I'm a big MTT/ SNG player and never have much success with ring games.

What would you say is the BIGGEST strategy change between the two?

the common points are equity works on both or any form of poker game , regardless MTT, SNG, or Cash games

the difference is , calculate equity in different games totally different.
Cash game: blinds are fixed, chips = money.
MTT/SNG: blinds are increasing, chips not equal to money , because even winner takes all chips, winner does not take away all the money.

therefore, you need to know how to adjust.

The biggest differences i would say is at cash/ring game you can play aggressively for all your chips without fear if you are well bankrolled then you just have to reload whereas in mtt/sng if you lose all your chips then that's it - you have to leave / register for another one.

Also chips in tournament are obviously not real money and in ring games what's in front of you has all real value. As the above comment mentioned about us not having to adjust to blind level increase in ring games. When blinds keep increasing generally the overall play becomes that much more tighter whereas in cash game we can reload whenever we get short and not worry about playing tight short stacked - stay loose as long as we wish or till bankroll dries up completely.:viking:

The difference i find in cash games players will play wide range of cards so you will also have to open up your range so its more fun and its not abc poker and you don't have to sit for hours so its more fun and less stress. I think position also plays a more vital role in cash games where most of the hands will not go to the show down.

interested to know as well. i'm a winning sng and mtt player, but a losing online ring game player. i find that in the online ring game (4nl), players are way more loose than even the beginning stages of an mtt. it's crazy the crap i see. i get tilted more easily playing online cash games.

MTT, and cash players are 2 different breed of players. Ring game, you can play more tables and buy in max and sit for strong hands, where in tourney your force to keep moving up. I like live cash , but i feel scared to play live tournaments. when im online I like playing tournaments but I am scared of cash games.

I think "Are they playing so bad because unlike tournaments you can't see their stats" lol

Let's see.....
One has ever-increasing blinds which will require us to adjust our play accordingly. (with all kinds of intracies... ie. 3 & 4-betting vs. diff. stack sizes, 3bet shoving/stealing, etc. etc. etc. etc. Many, many things that will require knowledge on how to play varying stack sizes, quite often in the 35 to 50bb range).

Cashgame > typically ~100bb's+
Deepstacked poker where one needs to know how to play the pokerzz.

My online experience has been >> tournament play seems to attract a larger number of weak & newer players to the tables vs. cash. Anyone can win a tournament ;)
