I've busted a few $50 deposits in my upcoming of trying out online poker and have come to some relative conclusions. One being I've learned a lot from studying the game and two being I now know exactly what I want to play and how to play it. That being said is it a good idea to deposit one good size deposit or stick with a smaller deposit until I've increased my bankroll?

Some people are just not made to grind up smaller deposits, takes a special nitiness. If it has not worked for you, give a much larger deposit a try, and just follow BR Management because it will hurt a lot more if you donk it away. Good Luck

Ivebusted a few twenty and fifty dollar rolls up until now which is my best yet. I have found 5nl to b comfy and I started my ten dollar roll there the other day and I'm now at 77. Playing tight AND also the shallow tables. I used to chase losses and bust now after a handful of those I'm stickig to 5 until I pop my 200 dolla cherry.

Imo start with 50 and play 4 or 5nl tops

$ 50 is enough for moving limits.
As advice to you: never, never give in to emotions, follow the rules of bankroll managment and still read various articles and forum.

I did a $500 deposit when I started playing again. Once I got to $1K I withdrew $500 so now my entire BR is a freeroll.

deposit 100 dollars, maximum 200, because if you really studied the game you should be able to grind 1 dollard MTT or STT. and 100 dollars are enough for you to determined whether your a winning player in those levels.

when you making large deposits not learned very the plus game you run - is the risk of growth of your bankroll, it should not quick, be at a constant and slow.
That's why 50 - 100 is more than enough

You should play at entry-level stakes until your game is good enough to win at a decent rate before moving up. $50 is enough BR at this level. But given you're willing to deposit more, your true BR is more than $50 regardless of how much you deposit. It's the total amount you're willing to use for poker, no matter how you split it up.

The term "bankroll" refers to the amount of money you set aside exclusively to play poker - for example the money you have online . It is separate from all the other finances in your life.
No matter how big your bankroll may be, there is always a risk that you could lose it all and this should not impinge at all on any of your other day-to-day financial obligations. To keep this risk as low as possible, good bankroll management is required.

i'd rather make a small deposit.
50$ is a lot of money to poker with and from there on you should be able to build up a nice roll.
i really shouldnt go any higher then 50

It's a tough question to answer. Honestly, depositing small means you are under rolled and will likely go break. My only fear is that a bigger deposit could lead to greater loss if you aren't ready. If you believe that you can stick to a conservative BRM strategy then I recommend a very large deposit. I also recommend trying to find a substantial rakeback bonus to accompany the deposit. If you want to play 10nl, deposit 500$. 25nl 1k. Once your comfortable with online you could conceivably beat 10nl with 200$ and 25nl with 400$ but its dangerous, even if you are a spotless player variance is still a factor. You will be at a disadvantage because your opponents have played online more than you. My conclusion would be to deposit bigger, but make sure your ready both technically and mentally. You need to be able to break even at least, and avoid megatilt.

Great advise, brm is very critical especially for new players, I've been playing for some time and still have issues with Brm.

To OP. I would keep it small and build from there as you keep playing you will need to adjust and find what games is right for you and more comfortable, then you deposit more
