With a big hand, against passive calling station types, firing three barrels is just fine no need to get tricky.

But against aggressive villains that like to float and steal against you with reasonable but beatable hands, I find that a more effective way to feign weakness and induce aggression is to bet the flop and check/raise the turn, than checking flop then c/r turn.

It's particularly effective if I raised preflop and get flatted by the villain in position. If I nail a strong flop on a board (generally top two pairs, set, fh), I'd throw out what looks like a cbet. Then when I get called, I will check.

From my experience, villains just have an easier time not giving me credit when I check raise them on the turn after cbetting the flop than if I flat call the flop and then c/r the turn.

Does anyone find the same results?

IMO it will be so situation dependent. I play some regs and when I miss on the flop i.e. AKo, and board is 238 - 2 tone, if I c bet and get called, and the turn is a brick (NOT completing the FD) I can often take it down w/ a c/r. If he is a hyper agro, then maybe not, but a good aggressive opponent - especially if we have played a bit - is gonna have to be way ahead to call me here, and if I have a decent bit of equity I may even welcome the 3 bet....

My point is if you do this against decent players that you may be playing with again, or at least for a while longer, you need to consider c/r a turn with all kinds of hands to be able to get good value when you actually are good.

As well a flatting the flop and c/r turn, same thing. Do it strong and with air, and you will be very hard to read altogether. Flop/villain/situation dependent obv.

Very situational based on the type of players, your position on them, your chip stack, and the cards you hold.

Yeah, the "**** you floater" line is pretty good at getting LAGs all pissy.
