Sometimes you can control the post-flop betting from the blind positions, even though you're betting first. Let's say you're chasing and want to see the turn or river, but don't want to get stuck having to make a big call. Try throwing out a minimum bet before anyone else gets a chance to bet. When you throw out a minimum bet you give the players who have hit a small to medium hand a chance to slow play it. They have the option of calling and letting people think they've got nothing and often people will take that opportunity. By throwing out minimum bets after the flop, you can sometimes convince people to just call until the river instead of going in with a big raise on the flop or turn. They don’t think you have anything, but they’re wanting to hide the strength of their own hands and you’ve given them the opportunity to do just that. So for very few chips, you have a chance to control the betting even from the blind positions. Just be willing to throw away the hand if someone does bet big.
