Those instances are rare however you can set traps when you have a low pocket pair from 2s to 6s and you spike a set catching another player off guard because instead of one pair you have trips which is better than aces and any two pairs.

Not so rare as 619Leafs tries to make you believe.

As a matter of fact yesterday in a freeroll I was playing a player on my left who was a table bully and making some pretty poor plays, but was getting extremely lucky and getting whatever cards he needed to win with, when shoving preflop all in’s.

Well I waited patiently for 7-8 minutes until I got a hand that I really like playing, but I was out of position on this donkey with him being on my left.

Like so many hands before this one, he preflop raised the blinds and everyone folded, when it came around to me, I decided to see a flop with my 10, J suited.

The flop was a 9, Q, K, all off suits, …… now having flopped da nuts, I decided to ........... TRAP him.
He made a continuation bet on the flop with a min raise of 50 chips
I paused for a moment and made the call

On the turn, a low card was drawn 6x, and he made another raise, this time it was for 150 chips, again I took a few seconds to think it over, and then made the call………just trying to wheel the fish in …. Lol

I did not have a large stack to begin with, each player started off with only 1000 chips.

On the river, I decided to make a bet, I made a raise for around 40% of my remaining chips.
The fish did not like that raise and re-raised me allin.

The fish had a A 6 off.

And the rest is history…….. I doubled UP and my TRAP performed as I had intended it to work :captain:

One of the leading techniques in the list of poker tricks holdem - slowplay is used when it is necessary to provoke an opponent on a bet. It consists in the passive drawing of a strong hand and can be used in the following cases:

If the cards in the following streets can strengthen the opponent's hand, but it will not be stronger than the player's hand;
at a large chances of the bank, giving the opponent the opportunity to bet;
with a large number of players in the game, thanks to which a large bank is formed, provoking a further game;
in the game there are weak players who seldom drop any hands.

I like setting a trap with smalll pairs and hopeing to make a set, but as luck has it ( with me ) I get a bad beat with the
player making a flush with 2 7 suited.

My opinion is that the best trap for your opponent is when you have a strong hand, he always raises, and you give the ceck / call and the all-in. And the opponent remains surprised to be eliminated from the tournament :)

easy

first you get this stick see.......not a short stick,but not to long either....then find you some string,not to thick a string,but not to thin either.....then find a deck of jumbo cards,any brand will do......then place cards on dry ground,right next to the beaten path see..........you find you a big rock or a thick tree will do,to hide behind and wait......then as the poker players start coming by,watch for one to reach for that brand new deck.......pull string.....and you got him,or her,and they are all yours baby....good luck at the felts baby:cool:

Traps 22 33 can be predicted. It is necessary to understand the opponent's game and then set the trap.

Each poker player tries to multiply his stack at the table. At any trick the players go for the sake of winning. There is no difficulty in getting a good hand on the flop or turn to lure the enemy into a trap. I think that it's a great skill to understand what combination is the opponent's and not to lose most of the stack or the whole stack.

Sometimes, I bluff and end up showing him the cards in order to set a trap for a next hand when I have good cards but play the same

Be selectively aggressive so villain doesn't give you credit. That's a trap in itself.

If you mean normally playing passively to induce betting, that's usually a losing proposition unless villain is a moron. By slowplaying big hands you give the draws a chance to hit for free, and when you check raise you pretty much give away the strength of your hand.

But ultimately, how you play really should depend on who you are up against.

Hey there!

I think the best way to set a trap is to be reasonably aggressive along the game and let your opponents label you as sort of a maniac. Then when you get the goods, you know what to do!!!

Make sure you know when to spring the trap,usually by the turn.

in which case you pass / check the flop and when you turn the turn, bet high or even an all-in? is it?

Yea generally if a raise looks as strong as an all in you might as well all in for value. Just don't forget often the trapper becomes the trappee. Gutshots are 10% per hard chase, not that bad. You need like FH or quads to slow play correctly or a strong hand with minimal pull like 9 or higher TPTK.

Try not to slow play trap with aces unless you are HU because Aces have a lot of pull but are just a pair of aces.

One of my successful traps is (holding nuts, of course) raising (minraise) preflop if I'm holding jacks or tens, if I hit a set I min raise the flop, check the turn and spring on river. Variations may apply and I'm always more inclined to push the villain off the pot if I smell danger with the community cards.

Sets are easily beat though, if you slow play with a 2+ people in the hand. If you're holding a FH or Quads other clear nuts, then it's time to make a decision whether to try and trap or push for a decent pot.

I lose to the opponent several times small sums with the craziest hands, give the impression that I am fish! And then when you get a great combination again go madly forward, the opponent is willing to look at my card at the higher rate! But this strategy is possible only at the very beginning of the game, until the poker table has not yet studied you!

That really depends of your opponent I think. If he is aggressively betting just top pair or bluffing too much with big raises then I just show weakness. Limp in. Check a lot. Pretend to take my time thinking when they bet. I even check the river waiting for the monster bet from them. That last one has pay me big a lot of times and backfired also a lot. Of course Im a novice player so advice should taken lightly here!:p

the point is that you have to think of all the odds if your opponent is paying your bet, u see, I already had a case where I had two pairs on the flop but my opponent had a pair in hand and won with XXX. I see thats at these times it is always good to think about what to pay
