I used to play a lot of poker in the early to mid 2000s. I would call myself a profitable intermediate player. I never really studied the game or my own game... I just played.

I started a career and a family and ended up getting away from the game for a while. A couple months ago I started getting back into it and I'm pretty much back at the same level I was at before. This time I want to take it a bit more seriously and want to put the effort into taking my game to a much higher level..

What are some of the best resources to help me achieve this? Any good YouTube channels to recommend?

What would you guys say was key to increasing your level of play?

Thanks!

Well it depends on your BR. skill, and experience. The last two are not the same. Skill is knowing how to play hands no matter what you have, and experience is the time you have played, like weeks, months, years, You said you just started back, so I would say you should start with low buy ins at cash games and MTTs and work your way up. This game is a big subject, and you really have to take it a part and learn one thing at a time. There is just to much to take in even if you try working on 2 or 3 things at a time. So the question is, where do you want to start. Maybe there are things you used back when you played that worked, but you need to go over some of it again. Just let us know what you are doing now and what works and what don't work. You need to ask a lot of questions and get all the advice you can. But if you are not going to use the advice, there is no reason to ask. I asked many when I joined and I tried every bit of it. Some worked and some didn't worked. For me, CC members advice is the only thing I have ever used to better my game. And it has worked. GL to you

Forum hand analysis here.

Post hands you have issues with, but more importantly: reply to hands posted by others. Don't read the other replies first, just respond to the first post of the thread and explain in detail what you think OP did wrong or right, how you'd play it and why.
Any strengths and weaknesses in your preflop and postflop play should become apparent that way, and more experienced players will then be able to point those out.

If you can take a little criticism, your game should improve this way.

I have always said keep an eye on your bank.. You are going to be in for swings that make no sense.. there are ALOT of players out there.. there reason for playing is the same as yours.. to win! Players make hands.. bluff.. chase.. catch.. not to mention how many overplays and pre flop coolers you are going to face... When your KK is all in pre flop and the opponent flips AA and another has called with his 77 and flops 742 then a K comes up and just as you begin to celebrate 7 on the river! I relive the moneymaker final table show from years back.. He walked away with one of pokers biggest prizes to that date and became a house hold name.. Call it what you want but I called it 'luck'.. talk about catching cards at the right time!

Sounds like a great idea, I will do that. Criticism is something I invite!
