What's the best poker advice you have ever received/read/heard? Something that has stuck with you and helped you in many situations or just in general.

Play more.
Remember, you are not good enough yet.
Bad beats happen, GET OVER IT (because I really don't care).

There are ups and downs in poker. If you cant deal with the swings find another job.

Quit! But it was from a family member who doesn't play poker. They figure it's gambling & one should tread lightly. I explained it's more simliar to playin' stock market than buying lottery tickets.
They didn't get it & still said "QUIT!"

I didn't get the wisdom from it at the time. Now I'd say it's about the best poker advice I've heard so far.

Same as in the other thread - build a solid, winning ABC TAG game first.

Hmm... What are you doing at a poker forum if the best advice you ever got was to not play poker??

You've got to know when to hold 'em. You've got to know when to fold 'em.
And of course bankroll management.

Ha ha ha cuz he does not follow the best advice he heard. :p I think it was QUIT and not to not play poker. I bet he can't Quit and that is why it would be the best advice ha ha ha

Best advice I got was to read a couple of poker books and read the strategy articles on Cardschat. I think I would be way more lost if I played without doing any reading. But I am just new to poker.

The best advice I read was about betting for FAT VALUE. When I manage to play with this in mind on cash games at micro stakes it works. When I widen my range and put myself in spots I dont know where I am, I dont do so well. Yeah its boring sometimes but winning has to be better than losing with some excitement?

Have good bankroll management, control tilt, study the game, and learn when to quit.

Play opposite the table. If the table is tight, play loosely. If the table is loose, tighten up.
