I'll take two of whatever's wild thanks.

Now seriously - this isn't a matter of opinion, it's AA.

I'll take AK over AA any day. AA is a jammer and I get beat consistantly when they're in my pocket.

This means either you're the unluckiest person alive, or you're not playing them right.

I'm serious, there really isn't any room for opinion if we're talking about the best starting hand. Maybe there's some room for discussion in Omaha about whether AAKK is better than AAKQ or AKQJ double suited or vice versa. But on hold 'em? AA is the best starting hand - fact.

You can argue about your favourite starting hand, but it's pretty much cut and dried as to which one is the best.

I'm with you on this one Oz, AA is the best starting hand in holdem, regardless, if your losing with them or not. I can't even think of an arguement for this one, I mean yes you get into troublesome situations with them, but it's the best, and besides if your facing alot of aggression with them on the flop there pretty easy to fold

I want any person who thinks AK or 22 is a better preflop hand than AA at my table... and I want them to bring lots of money.

I understand that statistically AA is a better hand than AK, but my preference is still AK. My winning percentage with AA is probably 40% or less vs 80% or higher with AK. Maybe I'm the unluckiest person in the world, but even with a well-spread board I've lost with them: AA vs villian - board shows 7 3 2 9 8 - what do you do? Fold? Go all in? - Villan has 6T and you're f'd. That just doesn't seem to happen when I get AK.

I think I'm playing them right (lmfao) and don't believe AA is easy to fold after the flop, which is why I call them a jammer hand. You've got top pair... big whoop. Does top pair win the majority of hands at your table? No... they do not. The AK tends to lead to more successful finishes for me on a much more consistant basis. The bottom line is all that matters to my bankroll.

I play them, but they make me nervous. At the end of the day whether I fold'em after the flop, turn or river, or get beat off the board by a weaker starting hand, it doesn't matter does it... It's still a loss of cash. With AK that doesn't seem to happen, thus my preference. I just like the possibilities with AK, especially suited.

This thread is confusing enough to not be sure who is serious here or not.

Oz is right; as for the best hand AA, then KK.

AK has advantages of it's own, the biggest being that it's easier to fold if you miss the flop. Or at least it should be. People go bust with AA/KK even when it's obvious that they've lost because they can't believe that it can lose.

Again... YES... AA is the best hand. There's no debate over that and never has been. All I stated is that I prefer AK over the bestest of all godly hands, the AA. I never said it was the best hand... just the one I win more $$$ with and thus the one I would prefer. But either way or no way, the original question was answered within the first couple of posts.

That's all, just my preference.
