I'm not sure if position is relevant here, anyways
I'm at the Big Blind and

hole cards are 4h 9s

board draws 4c 6s 7d 5h 3d

nobody has 8x or 2x (x is any symbol btw)

If nobody else has any card matching but got an Ace, will they also get a pot or will I get any money at all to begin with.

I guess I'm posting the newB question at the right section in this forum.
Thanks

The best 5-card hand made from the total of all your (or anyone elses) 7 cards, no matter if part of that is in your hand or not, is what counts.

So having 49 on a 34567 board is of same value as 34 on the same board or even AA or 7A or even A2. In all these cases the best possible hand is 34567. So IF indeed no one has an 8 (or 89) in his hand then the pot will be split between all players who go to showndown.

I hope this helps.

the goal of hold em is to make the best 5 cards possible, doesn't matter if they come from the board or your whole cards, if you were holding Ax, your opponent K7 and the board was 44442 you'd win the pot as your best hand is 4444A to your opponents 4444K, make sense?

As you have heard from the others in hold'em you make the best 5 card hand out of you two card on the hand and the five on the table.

Maybe it is the five on the table maiking the best hand at all and then pot splits between players at show down.

Thats why it is a very good hand if you hold the two card on your hand that makes the two highest card at the straight. it is called straight with two overcards.

If you want to learn a lot about this you can join pokerstars on the web they have a web based pokerschool, It has no connection to their pokerclient.

exept from the fact that you can join some freerolls and play in their Open Skill League.

You go trough different lessons and you will get rewarded with tournaments tickets and so on while studying.

If you join pokerschool before making your first deposit they used to give you 500 FPP or VPP but I dodnt know if they do that anymore.

Hope you could use this
