I'm crazy with SnG. It's ruining my bankroll.
First I joined Pokerschoolonline bankroll promotion, passed their quiz easily and received first $6 for free (total $8).
I used that amount to practice with ring game, zoom and tourneys. It increased to $17. I think it's a good start, right?
Then I came to SnG, OMG, I lost all. I don't understand, I can win in tourneys but can't in SnG. Why was that?
Guys, tell me how you built your first bankroll and managed them?
And the differences between tourneys and SnG? Is SnG more difficult than tourney?

I suspect you haven't played nearly enough to know whether you're actually a winning player at any type of game. With small volume, all your results could easily be due to variance.

SnG's are supposed to be easier to cash than tournaments, since 33% of the players make the money in SnG's, and about 20% or less of the players make the money in tournaments.

Try playing the only game that you are good with.Let say you are good at cash table or tourney then just try to stick at that game.Different game require different skill.Just do what are you best at and comfortable with.

You just can take an idea what kind of player you are when you have a great sample of SnG, like 1k or 2k. You should focus on learning and studying about them. You have to consider the varience so it is normal if you are losing but you need to get focus on turn the things up..;) Cmon dude!

most of the tops pros if you asked them how they started and alot would say SNGs

Variance can easily wipe away a bankroll if you dont have enough to cover at least 50 SNGs

Try to play some Double or Nothings. I think it's the easiest way to earn some money. The problem is that you can't win much money without risking much. I think SnGs are way easier than cash games. I myself also like satelittes, but not at 888. And I want to say the more you play the better you become.

It seems as though the larger the tournament the harder it is to get decent cards to play with. I don't understand that part, but it's easier to play the STTs 'cuz you always get better hands to start with

If you couldn't win SNG then try cash tables or some MTT. I've got same situation few moths ago. I just stopped to play SNG's and started play MTT's and now hadn't got problems with big losing strikes.

Take his advice about DoN's. Im doing a little test right now to if see they are beatable with the high rake % at the lowest limit on carbon and so far I am doing well! Go check out my thread. Also I was having trouble when I first started SNG until I read a lot about ICM. You should do the same. You will be surprised to find that there are many times when folding AK is the right thing to do pre flop.

In microstake SnG u must be rock solid, tight & aggressive. U can also read about Bankroll management at pokerschool or in this forum

SnGs are the easiest to cash in
you just must learn when blinds get low (down to 10bbs) it comes to more of a push or fold game
you may just be playing too tight, or not using position to your advantage enough
you'd be better off posting some hands for analysis

my opinion start 9man stt's, but study up too- play lowest buyins
move up to 27/45man stts then some 90man with time

mtts are a tough game to keep a nice bankroll without some BIG wins
tho always fun to play

cash tables are a whole different animal

also SnGs have some solid regs who grind many tables all day long- learn your opponents and their tendencies more, since you will encounter the same players more than you would playing mtts

gl with whatever you decide to focus on

I think it is all because of your poor bankroll management... And I do not think you can actually beat the cash game as you have not even experience a down swing session yet...

If you cant enter the money at regular sng, try fifty fifty. 5 are paid out of 10

players compared to 3 against 9.

Or just stay at the games you feel comfortable.

I think there are more regular players in SnG's even at low buyins. I find it harder to cash in SnG's than Tourneys.
