So I have been playing poker for about 4 months now. It's been pretty difficult. I started out with just a mild interest after donking (Like I mean seriously donking, I had a hand ranking chart on my phone in my lap the entire time) my way to $120 in my brothers $20 buy-in tourney. A few months after winning that, I accidentally saw a rerun of the wsop ME 2015. I loved watching McKeehen stare people down. That was what really kicked off my passion for poker but I didn't start playing seriously (for me, I know there are many other people out there who play dozens of hours per week more than me) till a few weeks later. I had convinced 4 buddies of mine, Aidan, Brandon N., Brandon W., and Matthew to play poker with me while still being hyped from watching the WSOP ME. I showed up at my buddy Aidan's house the next day with my small, ragged collection of chips. It took me 30 minutes to teach them the rules, but even then they still were making errors during our practice rounds like acting out of turn, folding when they could check, and flipping their cards over declaring they had won after the flop. The funny thing was, I barely knew the rules myself, it's hard to figure out what the rules are after only watching a rerun of the WSOP ME for a few hours. Anyway, we each forked over $10 and started playing. Our makeshift SnG turned out to last 7 hours because I gave everyone 1500 big blinds. I didn't know what a good number was. At bitter end of the session, it was only myself, the self-proclaimed "expert", and Aidan, the "donk". The very first hand of heads-up I flopped the nut flush. He shoved then I quickly searched hand-rankings on my phone then called. He proceeded to celebrate when we flipped the cards over because he had the "nut straight". He grabbed the $40 we set aside for 1st and started blasting "All I Do Is Win" from his phone. I shut that down very quickly and showed Aidan that I had a flush and that he was drawing dead. He was pretty mad, I grabbed my winnings and got out of his house as soon as I could, while leaving him with the $10 we set aside for 2nd place. From that moment on I thought poker was ridiculously easy and began to dream about being a pro.
More to come later...

TL;DR
I saw McKeehen win the WSOP ME 2015. Then I liked poker so I played with my friends but none of us really knew how to play but I ended up profiting $30 from them anyway.

It's really cool to see you can find some friends to play some poker even though they don't know how to play like you! Keep on learning the game, it's easy to pick up, hard to master.

Sounds like a nice way to learn. I started about the same way just no phone. I always think back to my younger days of playing 5-10, games in my small town. Its a whole different game when you sit with ice rocks and cuttthroats.
