I'm just getting back into Poker since Black Friday. I was definitely a losing player then, but after reading through The Mental Game of Poker (tilt was my biggest leak) and Crushing the Micro Stakes I've almost ground up from 5NL to 10NL on Bovada (US Player) 4-tabling 6max.

Here's the thing, Bovada's HH system is terrible: I can't know for sure how to make my play better immediately following a session because at best they are 3 days old. On the other hand, playing on CarbonPoker I can definitely fix my play after a session while it's still fresh - but all the regs can see my stats too and the regs-per-table ratio definitely seems higher (just based on their chats).

Do you think it's more beneficial for a beginner to play on Anonymous tables with lots of players and delayed feedback or fewer tables with more regs per table but instant feedback?

I'm a beginning player and I'm liking Bovada's anonymous system. I've read the arguments for and against it and I'm comfortable not knowing who the other players are and not being known.

I've messed around with some HUD systems on pokerstars and others, but I like not having a HUD. It makes me think about the game and reinforces the techniques and skills I am learning.

That's my .02

Yea you're right, I'm probably better off just mastering the fundamentals before using a HUD. I'll just use a spreadsheet for now to manage my bankroll.

Once I grind out of the micros I'll make the switch (and hopefully PokerStars will be back in the US!)

As far as the actual rooms, I would suggest Bovada. Their payouts are super-fast.

As for the anonymous player argument, it is a little different for sure, but you do get used to it eventually.

Plus it's not like you can't use PokerTracker/HEM, you just can't use the HUD. Thanks guys, definitely going to stick with Bovada
