So I have been playing on a few free sites doing free rolls as well as normal tourneys which I have won 2 of so far. I am just looking for general tips on how to make it to the final table and if I should even try reading players when playing free rolls or for play chips. Thanks :)

At the beginning of freerolls there are ALWAYS people who are all-in crazy. Just wait them out and play tight.

And I'd say it's still very important to hand read players in this field. Just realize that they don't understand as much, so things like K3o can be in their range even when someone raises. So just give them less credit.

I've also noticed they will bet big hands very strongly because they have no idea that they should size appropriately so we stick around.

Nice advice Foldemz! Those all-in mofos really get my goat sometimes you know? It's like I get up to 10th in the tourney standings then I blows it all up almost immediately calling those guys and they miraculously hit a gut shot on the river... Mehhhh haha

Yeah foldemz, that is really solid advice, thank you. How would you put someone who seems like a fish at the table on a hand when he will play cards such as Q5 or K3o? Should i just judge what he has by his value bets?

At the end you ask if you should just play for chips.
There is no read on super loose / hyper aggressive freeroll players.

Research, learn and live by "ICM" in MOST situations.
Also following solid fundamental play will get you far, fast.

For recommended reading I suggest Dan Harrington's tournament series.

dturner,
Solid advice man. What exactly do you mean by ICM? And thanks for the book reference.

Keep posting and when you have enough join the CC freeroll club.
Join the CC league.
The players there are more steady, the huge entry in normal freerolls make them a lottery.

ICM is Independent Chip Model.

It's a way of structuring your decisions around equity and the equity of the prize you're going for.

There's a lot of really good e-books, and articles on ICM, +EV and such.

Good luck man. Keep us updated on your progress.

they dont pay any cent, so they dont care about getting out of the tournament, and if win a good amount of chips, they starting playing better.

keep tight at the beginning against those players, and when they left, start ur normal game.

Hey so I know some of you wanted to hear about my progress, and I won a play money free roll (194 plrs) by getting in the top 9 and receiving a 15k tournament ticket! Woo hoo!

Hi I think that the final table just Akor you get is when you go to a lot of beginners with no votes against facing all- because lemákolnak , only add or to raise and a current -proof all- because of the many starting PLD 100k freeroron provide not meant so much to beginners hope after a flop I've helped bye

IMHO, there's no real fundamental strategy for freerolls, individually. If you play them often, the obvious decision is to play tighter early, watch for the hyper aggro fish, and also take advantage of them. Then play a more solid game when they're gone. If playing them very recreationally, you may find yourself playing too tight, at one end of the spectrum, or just like them, too loose, at the other end. Basically, the more often you're playing them, the quicker you'll find the key ingredients or advantages for success in them. And regardless of how often you're playing them, remember there will always be the fish that rarely do. So, again, one of the main points, keep tight early and find that feel.

Solid advice man. I've heard the "start tight loosen up later" strategy a lot so definitely going to apply it.

So just an update, I played in the pokerstars $10 free roll and I made it to 388 place out of 3000+. I thought that was pretty good and I can definitely see where I need to improve. Any thoughts?
