Just picked up on poker again after a few year hiatus. Bought into Bovada with 25 bucks a couple weeks ago and after a nice upswing (220) Im now down to 53 lol. I got ahead of myself and started playing 1/2 tables. So my question is what is the max BI for ring games and also for SnG's with my current BR of 53?

I always hear on here you want 50 BI's. True?

Yeah if you want to practice a 'strict' bankroll in the 'higher limits' like 25-50nl upwards then 50 would be 'very safe'....basically the higher you go the more buy ins you would need.....for micros 20-25 should be enough

Yeah, you're basically looking at either $2NL or $1 SnGs.

It depends. BR = all the money you have for poker, no matter where it is and how it's split up. As a simple example, say I have a strict $1000 budget and will never put up another cent. If I deposit $25 to a site, my BR is still $1000.

If I use a 30 buyin guideline, my $1000 BR divided by 30 = $33.33. Note that this doesn't take into account whether I'm good enough to handle this buyin level. This obviously isn't a smart thing to ignore, which is why it's a good idea to start at the entry level and to work your way up as your ability and BR grow.

N'yeah... going on a downswing and then increasing the stakes is exactly the wrong way to do it...
