Hi, all,

I didn't yet started playing in real money. I want to get involved and confortable in playing poker with playmoney before starting in real money.

I know, for instance, that my bankroll should be at least 100 times bigger than the buy-in of a SNG that I play. So I bought 350K and I play SNG 5K untill I reach 1M where I'll start playing SNG 10K.

The ROI I reached, after two months and 400 games, is 47,60% and ITM 53,11%. I know that I should play thousands of games to get a solid information of where I am and I also know that when I start playing real money this numbers will decrease, obvioulsy because the players are much better.

Are this numbers and graphics ok? good? bad? Am doing good so far?

Thanks.

A waste of time, it is better to play freerolls or made a deposit for microlimits.... Play money has nothing to do with playing for real money.

Playing a very long time for play money, your game will be even worse and the habits that you acquire in play money tables, it will be difficult get rid...

Agree with horizon12 also...try to play on 3-4 rooms that provide some good freerolls to build the bankroll required and hope for playing for real money. It's better! You will win not so much...but u will understand with low steps the real poker and the value of the money!

Few years ago i also was playing sometimes on play money on fulltilt...i build a bankroll of 1.260.00 virtual chips....for what? There are still there for 3 years!

Out of curiosity what did you pay for 350k play chips? You could easily have worked with the 1k free you get and followed a brm and built that up rather than investing real money into playchips.

Stars has 25c 45 man sng's and 50c stt's and even a 10c 360man sng that you could use to build a br as small as 10$ up without too much ROR if you are even half decent.

Not to mention as already stated you sound like your going to be investing a lot of time into play money games which are not going to represent real money games at any comparitive level.......maybe a 1mil play money game might rep a 1$ real money game or something (i have never played higher limit play money games but i know i really don't care much about play money regardless of how much I had since it has no conversion to real money, and would often donk around with it for funsies (ie not really how I play poker)).

I wish you luck on whichever path you choose, but if your plan is to move into real money play it would do you much justice to simply start with the smallest deposit and play the lowest limits and gain your experience there.

Yeah, like everybody said do not play those play money games.
It is NOT a real poker. It'll only mislead you making you think that you beat the game, but once you start playing real money poker you'll realize how wrong you were.
So start with freerolls then make a deposit or maybe freerolls will bring you some money.

"I bought 350K"
That is biggest mistake to your bankroll you have ever made.

You will learn nothing with play money, because noone plays with them like its money (well its actually no money at all).

Sometimes ppl think thay can play, win some play money and sell them back. Wroong, they really have no value at all.

I can still remember when I cant play online poker after black friday and tried those facebook play-money online poker games. If one makes all-in, others will follow.

It aint poker bro. Rather play freerolls. It somehow resembles real-money games at the mid to late phase.

I agree with everyone else above. I used to play using play money too, until I made my first deposit. Things are so different.

I used to play at a bar and the guy who worked there used to play using play money too at Stars. Now that I started playing for real and trying to get rid of some habits. Sometimes he passes by my table and looks at the my folded hand and says "Oh my God, how can you fold A9o?" and that drops my mouth wide open.
Play money, you don't consider position, number of oponents, pot odds, antes, etc. You just look at your hand and ask "Can I win?", and you play it. There's nothing else to take into account. So what if someone re-raises a raise pre-flop? You can still call with JT and hope to catch a straight. Go thinking like that into real money and you are doomed.

Spending money on play chips does nothing to help you, and everything to help pokerstars: not only do they profit directly from the purchase, more play chips will only get you more into poker or into thinking you are good at it, and eventually you'll get into cash games and give them rake.

Your #'s are worthless, beyond getting familiar with a sites software, or, learning a game about which you know nothing, razz, Omaha H/L or some such, you are learning nothing that can be applied to real money play. You will come away vastly overinflated expectations & estimates of your skill level.

Back before black friday I used to play on stars for play money. I had found a site back then that would buy your play money from you and transfer real $ to your account. I'm not sure if such a thing exists anymore, but if it does it makes play money a little more worth it. I hope for his case that wherever he bought from also buys back.

I agree OP made a mistake in buying play chips and the effort might as well have gone into real money.

However, I don't think it was a complete waste of time, and he did save money by not going in at the deep end right away as many players do. At the higher end of play chips there are egos involved, similar to CC games with play chips or freerolls.

Yes it is true you only learn about playing against certain types of players by doing this, and you need to adapt differently for real money tables in the future, but this is also true for wherever you start in poker.

People are going to make wrong assumptions regardless of where they begin. At least if they understand the broad concepts such as the basic rules of the game, variance, bankroll management, and have learnt these lessons risk free from play money, it can be worthwhile in my opinion.
