Hi everyone

I would like to learn bankroll management to maintain stable bankroll without big swings. I deposited few times 15$ or 10$ but it just dint hold up even after making it to 60$. This is my main to priority to become profitable.
My question is what would you start off building bankroll and how to keep yourself cool at all times even if things don't go like you expect. Lots of times I make good TAG play but then I will play more lossy and wasting stack on bluffs (which I fold to allin re-rasie) when I could just wait to get to the money instead.
I am kindly asking for advices that really worked on you and any rules you follow etc anything helpfull. Also any good articles from bankrolls builders is good too.
Thanks.

Hello lukaszkrzi! $15 is a Very hard bankroll to start with/maintain even at $.01/$.02 This is due to the fact, swings are a natural part of cash poker. So my suggestion to you is start with a $50 bankroll. Play $.01/.02 or $.05/.10 untill you can build about a $500 bankroll. Then when you reach your $500 goal, go up to $.10/.20 if you feel comfortable enough. Then continue to increase stakes as you hit each bankroll goal. I tent to try to keep people to stick with these bankroll to stakes ratios.

$50- .01/.02
$500- .05/.10
$1000- .10/.20 - .25/.50
$3000- 1/2
$5000- 2/5
$100000- 10/20

More or less agree with the above except BRM for me would be:

$50-$100 (ideally $80 start) = 0.01/0.02

$100 to $240 = 0.02/0.05 (Dropping back at $80)

$240-$500 = 0.05/0.1 (Dropping back at $200)

$500-$1100 = 0.1/0.25 (Dropping back at $400)

$1100-$2200 = 0.25/0.5 (Dropping back at $1000)

Etc... This means you are allowed to take shots when you have 40BI at the current level + 4BI at the next level.

This allows you to move up faster and learn better I feel, as if stuck on micro for too long I feel you can learn too many bad habits where regs would eat you alive.

JMO though... As long as you follow this strictly and as soon as you drop to 40BI at the level below you also drop stakes variance wise you should be ok.

With 15$ I would start with micro stakes sngs, because I think, that 15$ are not enough to play any level of cash game.

I agree with the posters before: You need a higher bankroll to play cash game.

In my opinion, value of bankroll doesn't mean much. You can win by accident big freeroll and have all of a sudden $1000 on account. And what, you may play $22 tournaments and nl5 cash? Or you can withdraw 95% of your stack and continue play expensive games. Begin with $0.1/0.2 and go higher if you feel strength over others and augmentation of bankroll. If you lose deposits one after another, it means that you play bad and need to learn. That's all.

I deposited the first time yesterday, and ended up winning for more than 30 tickets to play tournaments and the first I played already dug and doubled my bankroll. I will not risk or 5%.

I typically suggest 40 buyins these days for newer inexperienced poker players. So this would mean:

NL2: $80
NL5: $200
NL10: $400

etc.

So my advice would be to deposit enough so that you have a real bankroll for the lowest limits ($15 is not a real amount) and slowly work your way up while learning and mastering the fundamentals. I actually wrote an in depth article about bankroll management very recently on my blog. You can check it out here: http://www.blackrain79.com/2015/06/the-complete-guide-to-bankroll.html

Thank you for all help and also which MTT's you recommend to play, I was think that it needs to be at least standard speed but preferable deepstacked (which starts at 2.70$ but with most minimal risk) so in this case 15$ enough if plan to longer periods? thanks

I think it is important to have at least 10 full buyins to start. If you are in a level where you can show a consistent profit then deposit more instead of moving down. Moving down is a pretty strong indication that your game is in trouble.

Is it worth saving enough to put in a bankroll high enough to avoid the .01/.02 and .02/.05c games?

Or should you conquer micro stakes before moving up?

Sorry for the hijack

Don't skip these levels. There is a ton you'll learn for low price at these levels. Plus if you are truly a good player you'll crush these levels over a good sample. I recommend 35-50k hands played at 2nl before moving up. Utilize hand review here on forums. Post hands and get feedback.
Go to blackrain79.com and learn how to crush these stakes. Also dragthebar.com is free now too.
It would be a big mistake skipping levels in my opinion.

.02/.05c cash games are pretty decent and this my best stake level currently.

I will be starting with 46$ bankroll for .02/.05c (01/02cent is waste of time unless you are very new to game) and play 9 handed games. I will move to NL10 once I make 200$ (Not exactly how much I should I grind it up) :D.

The best bankroll management advice I've read was by Chris (Jesus) Ferguson when he tried to freeroll his way to a million dollars on Fulltilt. This was like 10 years ago but I'm sure you could find it somewhere.

You should determine some realistic goals, for example get to the money at 5 micro stakes tournaments, or reach 5 dollars profit a day.
then when your bankroll grows, set new goals.

Yep! Still a great video. In essence, if its less then %5 of your total bankroll, you can afford to play at those stakes. This goes for cash AND tournaments.

I play a lot at Full Flush Poker and made a $50 deposit 2 years ago, and have made 2 withdrawals, and I have 5 times that in my account. I started playing freerolls and at 2nl until got to $75 and then went to 5nl. From there it took a long time to get to 10nl but that is where I'm at now, and may be awhile longer. Like has been said, tilting is the worst thing you can do. I've worked on mine for 6 months, and now I hardly pay any attention to the bad beats because they are going to happen and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Take your time. Don't be in a hurry to move up. Have some fun, and if you keep it that way, you will help your BR faster than you think. GL to you
