Alright. So, this has happened time and time again. At this point, I'm fully aware of it, I'm just not sure how to combat it. Looking for tips I guess.

I've been playing on Full Flush for about a month, haven't made a single deposit, though have cashed in several of their freerolls. With that money, I've been playing in little 50 and 60cent tournaments- they currently have about 50ish players on average. Now, it seems like I'm willing to gamble a *lot* more when I can afford to lose, even though we're literally talking about pennies here.

For example: I played in a 60cent buy in tournament earlier, re-bought 6 or 7 times ultimately yielding me down like $3 or $4 .. and I didn't even end up cashing in it. I don't tilt, it's just a matter of willing to put myself at risk on mediocre draws when people place huge bets.. which is a huge leak in my game.

Now, when I only had like $2 in my account, I seemed to at least cash in every single one I'd enter. Whereas at this point, I'm playing like a ****ing donkey. Not proud of it by any means, just looking for a little advice I guess.

Note- I'm absolutely terrible in cash games so I just don't play them at all. I love tournaments, it's like 2 hours of pure entertainment to me. And at just pennies a pop, it's worth it.

Constructive and cynical criticism are both welcome. I can take it.

You don't actually need to manage your bankroll. As you have described, you are not actually trying to earn profit from the game, but just consume some money and time to have fun. So... just move on and there is no need for you to change.

Stably earning money from Texas Hold'em is never an easy thing for anyone and is usually hard and boring, or even suffering. So just think clearly what kind of player you really want to be.

Eventually one who makes a significant profit, though "professional" isn't what I'm aiming for at all. And by professional I mean TV/sponsors, etc. None of that. Side note, ended up placing 2nd in another since this was posted covering my previous losses about 3x over. Granted, I'm still just going to be sticking to these "pennies" tournaments for now. Also still open to suggestions in regards to the orignal post

Hrm... Well I myself suck at cash games, so I agree staying away from them is best. But what about SNGs? Often there are cheap buy-ins, and they can be quite similar to tournaments but with far less variance.

You can play in free-rolls with no deposit? (Damn i oughta check this out!) For sure keep playing the free rolls when you can, but you'll have to get your roll up to a significant amount before you can even safely buy into the $00.60 tourneys. I mean, you need over 50 buy-ins (usually) to safely play at any particular stake, and you need more for those MTTS due to larger fields.

Especially if you've only been playing for a month, you should try to focus only on one type of game. Cash is out, and MTTs are mostly a gamble with your roll, so I do recommend SNGs. Since you can't play too much in volume, study your game after you play to get the most learning out of it.

If your site has Double or nothings, or regular speed 9-man SNGS, these will have quite low variance. If you play on the weekend when the donks come out, you can sometimes fold into the money.

Part of your problem is that you aren't taking the game seriously enough. If you actually deposited $40 or so, I think that aspect would go away.

Another benefit of SNGs is that there are no rebuys. If you f-up, or gamble, you are out. This will force you to at least analyze your gambles, see if they are appropriate, and learn to just tighten up a bit.

Tourneys are definitely cool, you get to see a ton of hands for a few cents. Just making sure you are in the right mindset can do you wonders. If you go broke you'll probably have to deposit some money to get started again- I know you play for fun but with your money on the line your mindset could change drastically. I say this because you talk like you are playing with play money right now.

Anyway, good luck to you, hopefully you get lucky and build up your roll again

Same problem for me.

When my BR is up, I tend to let loose even I consciously know its a leak.

I regret only when my BR is hit hard.

Many times it happens. :(

On Full Flush you can play in the freerolls, yeah. Though you can't actually withdrawal anything until you make a deposit as far as I know, and even then they charge like $30-something. So, My aim is to build it to at least $1000 before even making a deposit, which will ultimately just be so I can make a withdrawal, lol.

I've made 3 deposits on Carbon Poker I think, bare minimum every time. I ended up winning like $60 in a freeroll tournament putting my $15 bankroll (at the time) up to around $75, and then played like a damn donkey in some cash games and lost it all.. in one night. I now have .98 cents on there, ridiculous. Can't even play in a tournament with that. I refuse to make another deposit, at least as long as I'm able to play on Full Flush.

I've played Double or Nothing SNGs on Carbon, but there's really no money to be made (for me anyway). I'd generally barely turn a profit with those. I don't know. I just know cash games are NOT my thing, so I'll just avoid those for now. Haven't played a single SNG on Full Flush yet, might do that tonight. Appreciate the response
