I feel like I have a decent understanding of the game, but my biggeest leak is managing a bankroll. I am not sure if I am a winning player or not becauseI go to the pit once I cash from freerolls. I would like to think I am beating the micro stakes, because every time I go into the cash games they feel really soft but I do not have a large enough sample size to prove I am not just running good. Next week I am making my first deposit on ACR so I want to know if there is anyone who had trouble managing a roll and found a way to get through it. Also do you think that this issue of managing a bankroll can even be fixed?

well on pokerstars, there is a mod called zoom, everytime you fold hand you get instantly a new one at another tables, i played sessions of 600 hands in less then 2 hour ....its was really helpfull for me to find out what was going wrong...i thought i was winning player too and on a real table i preform better....but i noticed that most of the time picked up small pots when i had hand or lose big ones when a lot of time i have to feel for a fold but holding a decent hand i make too many calls..losing in the long run...and after seeing a lot of this showwodns i also noticed i could play more loose agressive pre flop and on the flop and tighter after....ok there were also just bad beats like getting QQ vs KK and having overpair on the board..or hitting a set then the board pairs on the river and he made a better full house....but adding these new plays into my 'optimal 'strategy is just an imrpovement...ok at e real table i can sit in small blind pick up a rasing hand....get called by the big blind....who betted a rat flop..gving me info about the players playstyle, this wont work good in the zoom mod....

bth i played 6 motnhs with 50 euro at the micro stakes, you dont need to only be a winning played you also need toi beat the rake in the long run...i paid the site over 300 euro just to play...but if you are a winning player you should be able to beat it and keep on playing without depositing money.....

idk how much you made with your free roll, but i kept playing for 6 motnhs with 50 euro....

I see two variants to solve this problem.
First, fastest but expensive is to donate about 100$ and play your the best, play patiently, try many tables with games you prefer with low buy in.
Second way is to play cardschat freerolls only and accumulate bankroll from first paragraph this way.

Did you ever heard about successful players who started with 5$ from freeroll or first deposit and managed to multiply it cent per cent never losing? I did not.
You need airbag IMHO. So am I. You can check my own thread i think its similar: https://www.cardschat.com/forum/learning-poker-57/how-increase-self-dicipline-318505/

You're talking about a few different things here.

Bankroll management is basically about ensuring that you always have enough buyins in your bankroll for the level you're playing at. Opinions vary about whether the number of buyins you have should be 30, 50 or even 100. Whichever you go with, just multiply the buyin for your game by that number. If it's more than the size of your current bankroll, you need to drop down and play in smaller games until you have enough money.

The other things you're talking about aren't really bankroll management, they're different problems.

'Taking your winnings to the pit' is just a leak, plain and simple. Don't do it. Until you've built up enough that you actually want to withdraw for some other purpose, your poker winnings should be going straight back into your poker-only bankroll. Otherwise it'll never grow.

And whether or not you're a winning player is a different issue to bankroll management too. If you're a losing player then no amount of bankroll management will save you - it'll only affect how fast you go broke. There's really no way around this one, you've just got to play, keep accurate records of every single game and over time you'll build the data you need to tell you if you're winning or not.

I used to have problems with my online bankroll. I used to think of it as not a problem because I played recreationally and didn't care if I had to deposit again. Ever since I've become serious about improving my game I've been only playing stakes if I have the proper bankroll for that buy-in. 50-100 buyins is my online bankroll for any game that I play.

The pit is the "pits"!. Don't do it. You are throwing your $$ away. Stay away!

Focus on playing disciplined poker and create a Bankroll Management Guide that will help you along the way. Only move up in stakes when you hit X $'s. No excuses not to have one, you can find many useful tools on this site or youtube.

Good luck!

It might be interesting to know whether you are a winning poker player, but if you lose in the pits often, then you are a losing player. If you have enough buy ins, you will soon find out if you are a winning player. Start with $100, which might be 10 $10NL buy ins. I would suggest having around 10 buy ins, and although others suggest something like 50-100 buy-ins, I think this is unrealistic and unnecessary at low stakes. If you lose those 10 buy ins, you can assume you are a losing player, but don't give up, you can deposit another 50 and try again next week. Set limits for games, and block all casino type games.

With 100 buy-ins for a cash game, I feel pretty comfortable, but I prefer 200-300 buy-ins for the working limit, in order to sometimes take shots at higher limits

Cash games are wonky because of rake. You need to understand what you are going for, how much rake you will pay, and then remember this as you are working to increase. That said, it is quite possible to win, but you need to make sure you keep up your skills. Rake management is as important in those situations as anything else.

Tournament play, well, you need to know what you can win money at. This will build you up and get you where you can move up as you have more experience. I am currently only able to play micro on ACR as I am building my bank with freerolls and small games. This is how many did it back in the day. You need to be disciplined and willing to lose.

As for going to the pits after a win, well, research Stu Unger. I had the chance to see him in action once when I was at a tournament before he died. He was a legend on the felt, but was addicted to gambling. He ruined his life that way.

If I was you, I would try to determine which you make more money playing, not which you enjoy playing more. Do you make more money playing cash tables or playing tournaments?

Banking management is playing a limit that you have between 80 and 100 squares to be able to play without problems thinking about money.
