So as a low stakes player my biggest challenge is managing my bankroll. My typical game is .02/.05 NL partly because I find .01/.02 too much like spin N go where's it's all in or nothing. I also enjoy micro MTT but I actually tend to stay away from the SNG's. At least for now, just on preference.

So here's my question - I've seen strategy for managing your money from as tight as playing only as high as 20-50 buy-ins, to a low of 7 buy-ins. What has worked for you managing it? I've obviously like to build it, but what's a good threshold to move up? Do you do it to test the water, or wait until you've reached a certain number of buy-ins at the next stakes?

A lot of people recommend 20-40 buy-ins for cash games, but I like to be even more conservative.

100-200 buy-ins for MTT.

Best is 100+ buy-ins. Will cover you when you have wide swings...variance can be a nasty thing sometimes. With 100 buy-ins if you find you are losing consistently, then you have some leaks you need to find and fix. If you are up and down, that is fairly typical. If you are running good, enjoy it and use the opportunities. Just remember not to cash out more than the 100 buy-ins you need to keep you well covered. Gl!:)

As you are raising your bankroll, you must do something with it. With your experience you can go to higher buy-ins and tournaments!:)

Safe buy-in in MTT is 2% of your bankroll. For example, if you have 100$ max safe buy-in is 2$.

Yes, true, but remmeber if your bankroll starting downswing then you should go back to low buy-ins. :listen:

I think +100 buyins for mtt's is enough. For cashgames i think 80+ buyins is enough.
