Bank Rolling 4 Beginners
If there is anyone who feels they have a strong strategy for bank roll management I would love for it to be posted to my thread. I have just started in cash games and am liking the action i'm seeing there. my bankroll has gone from $28 to $46.94 on the $0.01/$0.02 tables. is thee any advice that will bring my confidence up to joining larger tables.:tee:

I guess if you want to go up without depositing, you could multi-table at your same level. I wouldn't move up until I had at least 50 in the cashier, 100 if you are more conservative. I don't like playing that low, so I would probably deposit 25 dollars a week and move to $5NL and see how I did at a higher stake. The play doesn't change that much at 5NL.

The strategy that I use, is to continue to build my bankroll until I have enough to buy-in 50 times at the next level.
For example, If I am playing 1-2 cent, then the max buy-in is $2.00. If I have a bank roll of $100.00 then I can buy-in at this level 50 times. At the next level, I can only buy-in ($4) 25 times. Once I have my bankroll past $200, then I move up to the next level (as I now have 50 buy-ins). BUT, if it drops down to $100 then I drop back down to the 1-2 cent limit.

I agree except if it falls back below $150 go back down IMO. Less to grind back up to take your next shot at the larger stakes.

Get your br up to $60. then you'll have 30 buy ins for $2 NL.

Play until you get up to $70. then take a 2 buy in shot at $5 NL. If that goes well, keep playing $5 NL. If your br goes back down to $60, you have to start playing $2 NL again.

Rinse and repeat...

2NL is a slow grind, limit overplaying strong hands is the one thing I can not overstate. It was a big issue for me and it made my chart swingy, after concentrating on position more I steadily increased and it looks like you are going the same route,so nice job!

As for moving up I would stick at 2NL till you have $125 to limit bad swings wrecking the bankroll you currently have. I move up when I hit 25 buyins usually for the next level.

Edit: Did not notice the necro bumping when I responded to this post.

Use the 10% rule - stay with maximum 10% of your BR at any table.

I stick with a 5% strategy. Its tight but not as tight as others I have seen such as 1, 2, or 3%. Pick an amount you feel comfortable putting in play that is under 10% and recalculate each time you reach for funds.

$0.01/$0.02 games are a slow grind with 20+ buy in you may like to try a few at $0.02/$0.05 see how you go steady as you go

As a general rule of thumb a bankroll of 200 times the big blind will suffice.
