I've played quite a few card games but I recently heard of Badugi. Could you give me a brief explanation on how this game is played?

Its a lowball game. However, unlike A-5 triple draw, you get dealt four cards instead of 5. Also, there's a qualifier that all 4 cards have to be of different suits.

So the nuts in Badugi is [Ad][2c][3s][4h].

More info can always be found: http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/games/badugi/

Four card, triple draw, lowball poker.

Small and big blinds, typically either limit or pot limit.

Four betting rounds (after deal and each draw)

For showdown you can't used paired cards for suited cards (they are tossed so your final hand can be 1, 2, 3, or 4 cards). Best hand would be 432A rainbow.

Four card hands automatically beat three card hands, etc. If you have a three card hand an there are no four card hands, then you are in the running still and 32A rainbow would be best.

And remember, in lowball low hands are evaluated by the highest card first, so a QJT9 rainbow beats K32A rainbow

I'm sure I replied in this thread with a quote from Vegas Vacation, but its gone. Did I violate some copyright law?

Anyway, Badugi is frustrating (read unbeatable) afik, was my original point.

aside: this game is really fun to prop-bet on when you're drunk, but you'll always lose to the guy that's hustling you and is actually an expert at badugi
