Can anyone explain to me how to play? I tried to look it up online and it still didn't really make sense. If you want to discuss strategy, that's fine, but mainly I just want to know how to play.

Actually, it's badugi <sp>

It's a cross between razz and 2-7 draw.

Best hand is A,2,3,4 of 4 suits. Any 4 cards of 4 suits is a 'badugi' as long as there are no pairs. You need 4 'different' cards of 4 'different' suits. Suit 'rank' has no bearing. Identical hands are a split pot.

An ace is low only. If none of the showdown hands have a 4 card badugi, the win goes to next lowest hand. A 3 suited A,5,6,x beats a 3 suited 2,5,6,x (the ace is lower than the 2). Similarly, a 3-suited 10,J,Q,x beats a 3-suited A,2,K,x (the Q is lower than the K). Make sense?

You are dealt 4 cards and get 3 draws to make a 'badugi'. Like most draw games, you can stand pat each round of betting or discard from 1 to 4 cards, always working toward the 4 suited non-paired cards.

Someone kindly made a correction to the post. It was listed originally in the title and OP as 'budagi'.

I think I get it guys. Thanks for the help! I'm signed up for a freeroll on carbon, so I'm going to try it out and see how it goes.

Alright, sorry for doubting your sanity ;). I didn't see any editing done, but I guess mods don't leave a mark when its a title not a normal post.

From playing alot of micro sngos 4 or 5 badugi are rather rare, 6 and 7 people are reraising, 8 usually wins but most just bet/call raise with one, nines and tens are ok, above that only more aggro players are betting them.
Of course, depends on how many drawing, how many draws left etc...but usually you can peg a player early as to which hands he/she bets/raises/calls with, which is very helpful.

I do alright unless I lose patience and end up calling down light or chasing when the blinds get high :dong:

I haven't played in any of the Carbon badugi freerolls, but if they are anything like the ones on Stars, prepare yourself for a major donkfest. Players bust out faster than even the loosest of nl omaha h/l freerolls.

PATIENCE. Especially early on, I try to wait for at least a 3 low card, 3 suited hand to play. By 'low' I mean any 3 different cards, 3 suited, all 8 or 9 and lower. Push a little harder on first round if you are looking at a dealt badugi to try to isolate the callers and chasers.

GL !!!!

Easy

I love this game.It usually is triple draw and the best hand is A234 all different suits. The key is lowball one of each suit. That is Badugi. If u have 2 of one suit u dont have it.Just try getting low as possible in all suits minus pairs.

As a general guide, I prefer to draw two to a 4 (two of a23 or 4) or draw 1 to either 6 or 8 depending on my opponents. Never draw three unless in bb un-raised. I also dont like standing pat with weak badugi from the get go, If any opponent that drew one starts betting at you, you will be in a tough spot.

A23K is actually a slight favourite over a made Badugi, its quite marginal though around 51%/49% www.badugiplayer.com has an odds chart

The carbon freerolls are always jammed with 1500 players in each I got down to 80ish last week and it took me well over 5 hours (and 2 1/2 bottles of wine) to get there. stars has $2 mtts running + lots of $5 sngs if you dont feel like waiting around
