I do not know how to start this .. if they say that luck does not go with poker .. others say that luck has to accompany us ...
But to that we blame him .. if we do not respect positions .. if we enter many hands looking for connect projects that we are not given?
To that we blame it .. to not take us seriously the poker and then complain of luck does not accompany us .. that you think ..
I admit that there are circumstances in which we want to try different ways of playing .. since to many who are conservative the variance ends up ruining us .. then what should we do?
Or we learn to adapt to the system and not blame the luck ...
But something must be certain .. that things well done to the alrga will bear fruit.

If you look at poker it's alot about luck in the the 'short' way, but in the long way it's all about strategy and so on.

the people always say i lost because i had bad luck, but they always had in mind that last hand, where their aces lost against kings or something like that instead of recognize lots of spots and chips they didn't get in the previous hands

Been burned way too many times to rule out luck. There's no secret to the formula of winning. Push out limpers when your strong, try not to string along, take the pot.

I don't believe in luck. I believe in skill, probability, and an understanding of one's patterns of play. When you have a "gut feeling", maybe your subconscious recognizes the confluence of patterns and is trying to tell you something?

Don't forget that we are far more likely to remember the bad beats over times we've sucked out and won when we probably shouldn't have.

I think luck can just be attributed to variance and probability. I think, given a large enough sample size, luck tends to even out among all players. No one player, over a long enough time period, is "luckier" than another. Maintaining large-scale success over a long period of time can only be attributed to skill.

I've been hit by variance more than fair share online. It's brutal to get it in good and lose. IMO bad luck exists. If your getting it in with the best but not holding than that's bad luck.

IMO the good players are the ones that can manipulate luck the most. For example, if you hit a flush draw on the flop and miss it on the turn and river thats bad luck but when a bad player might just fold a good player can make the right bets to make everyone thing he's lucky with the flush. Luck matters but it's the way we use the good and bad luck to still win that defines a player as good, bad, lucky, or unlucky. Personally I'll take skill over luck to the bank anyday lol.

There is plenty of luck involved in poker. Also a fair amount of skill.
If you play a live 1/3$ game 6 days a week, 5 hours a day. Most of the time the pots are in a certain range. Once in a while the game gets big. People sit with big stacks. Big hands break out, and you need your share of the good luck to hold up, or draw out.

You can have the stats in your favor all day. I was an 8-1 fav on the river ... blah blah blah blah blah . It matters squat, You could be the best player in the world, but in the short term anything can happen !

The table donkey buries you with a wonder card, and you will be thinking that your luck could be better.

Everybody that has played the game for a while is familiar with this scenario.
You sit at a table with a donkey that is spewing cash. The only guy he can beat .......................

YOU , sucker ! All day he bangs you, and then spews your money out to the grateful OTHERS !

He reminds you of that joke ..

'What's the difference between a whore and a bitch " ?
A whore sleeps with everybody, and a bitch sleeps with everybody except you !

If you switch things around slightly, In poker (because of the luck factor) he's the whore and you are his bitch !

It is necessary to rely only on skill. Luck comes and goes, but the skill is always with you.

Luck is in everything not just poker , so you can't say ' no I'm skilled enough so I don't need luck ' even in football you need luck either skilled or not , and poker aswell , it's a fact that can't be denied

The top pros acknowledge that they need luck in tournaments....you have to win some 50-50 races to win. So, they apply their skill, but get into situations where luck comes into play. I am by no means, a great player. I have had my share of suckouts, and I have been trounced by a player who had no business being in the hand...it all works out....that's poker.

Yes poker is difficult when you sit 2 -3 hours in the tournament and the card does not come and good luck it's not your tournament, but when the card comes in and it's OK it's great luck, I believe in luck and probably many players also believe

Luck is certainly an important thing in poker, but still the main thing is the ability to correctly use specific situations and be able to avoid troubles !!! Main problemma weak players is the inability to throw off a strong card, because of an incorrect evaluation of the opponent's cards !!!! Only the fish claim that they do not have luck !!!!

By far the luck must follow...
The experience can be played, but without any luck he too will stand on the spot! All mutually in this game!

I lost with AA to 42s today after raising 5x big blind preflop, everyones shortstacked..
Flop comes X-4-2 and I think it safe to raise all in. Opponent has two pair and I bust two places away from cashing.

Bad luck and bad player are two separate things.

Bad luck is when you make a sound judgement whether mathematically or psychologically and then things out of your control change for the worse.

Bad player is simply someone who hasn't learnt how to win, it doesn't make them less than anyone else.
