Howdy all! Most of you probably don't remember me, but I knocked around here for a while asking loads of questions and generally being a pain. Lots of stuff has happened in my life lately, and as a result I had to defer my poker ambitions, partially because I didn't have sufficient leisure (for different from having sufficient time) and also because I just didn't have the mindset to properly learn.

Recently things have begun to settle down for me. I have more leisure, and so I've decided to re-attempt my studies. I've started reading Super System, hunting for info, playing freerolls, and sampling Full Tilt's Rush poker with the fragments of my old bankroll. So far I've been reading about one hour a day, and playing around 2-3 hours, and making small progress. I play Rush .02/.05 in 100-150 hand increments, starting with $4 each time and more often than not I end up making $.50, $1, or so more than I started with. Needless to say this is a marked improvement versus my last attempts.

Anyhoo, that brings me to my point. What are the general thoughts on Rush poker. It seems like it could be a potential breeding ground for bad habits, though I'm not sure about that. Is it a good way to grow bankroll, and is it conducive at all to development as a player in general? Any helpful tips other than narrowing hand range, playing smart fundamental poker, and being generally careful? Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'd say how helpful paying rush is depends on what you're trying to achieve. It's certainly viable as a way to make some money, but that's only one possible priority. For instance, if you're working on improving your ability to spot and adapt to individual player styles and tendencies, it's probably far from optimal.

Rush poker is the devil but aside from that don't read Super System to help your online NL holdem game. Seriously if you play like Doyle advocates in SS you will lose.

i dont know wv, doyles advice on how to play qq has saved me a lot over the yrs alone. . . . .lololololol

as for rush poker i avoid it, the moving around gives me a headache after 1k hands anyway. i have similiar results like the original poster, like $1 or 2 for the session. but i can make more in the same amount of hands playing the .01/.02 table multi tabling so i really dont see an advantage. the few sessions ive had playing rush the ppl are tighter than id get at a normal table and not giving me action on my monsters. at 1st i thought it was the way i played my hands but after awhile i dont know- i mixed it up and got the same results = theyd fold anyway. anyway i stay away from rush poker.
