assigning players to a range has always been my biggest leak. i feel as though i am a semi solid player pre flop but when it comes to post flop play i am only playing my two hole cards. after watching hand analyses of some poker pros on youtube like doug pol and andrew neeme i realized that i never put in any substantial thought into what kind of cards my opponents might have. i consider myself a cash game player although ui play mostly freerolls. i was just wondering if any better players than myself could give me some insight into there thought process throughout a hand of putting opponents on a range of hands. more specifically players in the microstakes cash games and freeroll tournaments. keep in mind that i do not ye have a hud so all of this will be down in my head without any stats to work with.

You must collect statistics to evaluate the ranges of your opponents. If you can not use special programs - just look at the game and take notes. HUD very simplifies this task, but you can manage without it, if you play concentrates 1-2 tables. And do not forget to put reasonable labels. If you play ZOOM - you must learn to play in the later streets. And still have time to put notes.

I agree we should gather a range of hands players, but invisible to the emotions of the player into a living, can be said as the card will fall.

Observation would be my suggestion unless you are using some type of software like poker tracker. It can be difficult to put someone on a range but not impossible. At the lower stakes even harder. The first thing is to see what players at the table are solid and try to avoid confrontation with these players unless you are very strong, cause they will be to. Second start to take notes on the players around you. Start with the player on your left and the one on your right cause these 2 players will be involved when you are in most cases. Once you have gotten a pretty good read on them start to branch out, go 1 more to your right and same to the left. It is a process and it takes time. Welcome to CC and good luck on the felts!

I started practicing this skill recently with my own hand history on Holdem Manager and Flopzilla, and also took the opportunity to start a blog to record my training, you can check how I practice this postflop on PokerTradingStory.wordpress.com/category/poker
