Once a player makes the decision to become more serious about the game a hand, poker, the natural idea that comes to mind is - what does serious mean?

"OK." one says to him or herself. what do I need to do? Rolling off the top of my head. Learn more about the game. Learn the behaviors of successful players. Learn the mathematics. Learn the psychology. bankroll management. Gain experience on-line, live, in tournaments, in cash, at different buy-ins and stakes. To develop and implement a strategy and subsequent objectives and goals towards a desired outcome - more serious poker. To measure effectiveness of the strategy. And so on and so on.

The title of this post is "The Art and Practice of Systematizing the Learning Process."

We all hear about the components towards becoming more serious, but I've never heard any discussion of what all of that means as an overall idea, and how that breaks down.

What I'm speaking of is breaking down and compartmentalizing each process, each system, of the learning process.

I think when one breaks down these components, an outline emerges to help one move from point "A" to point "B."

As it's the morning for me, one of the things I do is execute my morning routine. My morning routine has been a core "system" component for me to improve my game.

It started with a piece of paper and writing down an outline of the things I think I needed to do to become a more proficient player.

Simply something like:

  • Study
    • Find quality material, websites, tutorials etc.
    • Find a place to play - for me it was online.
    • Find an experienced player for guidance.
  • Play
    • Execute what I've learned
    • Record/remember the experience
From this basic outline, I developed a morning routine as one of my daily measurable goals, todos in a list that I can check off.

I have a log that keeps track of all I do that I reference periodically to see if I've strayed from my track and then I try to understand why.

My "morning routine" is a systematized process that evolves as I learn. It has the same objective now as when I started to be more serious.

  • Morning Routing
    • What games
      • Identify the games I want to play today
      • Mark the times for cash/tournaments, live or online.
      • Plan the pre-game routine which might require travel, accessing internet etc.
    • What to study
      • Determine what to study - an outcome of an honest assessment of strengths and weaknesses.
      • Viewing Video tutorials.
      • Referencing books.
      • Through mentorship
    • What exercises
      • For example - Engaging now in Cardschat forum.
Everyone will have a different system though their own framework to move from "A" to "B" will be similar.

The question in response to this thread is what is your system or systems? And all questions around having a formalized system or not, and why? What do you do everyday? How has your system evolved? etc.

If you're a beginner, what are you doing? Have you thought about systematizing your poker trajectory?

If you're an experienced player, what is different now from when you started?

Are you stuck in your game? Would having a system help you move out of your stuckness?

OK. Go.

When a person forms systematic thinking about a system the brain will always being using the system against the player when facing better players in moments of the truth before knowing the actuality of the hand. The better player will be looking to crush the concepts that come from systematic thinking to recognize in the moment. The learning and failures will follow this systematic path of what? No other paths but to butt heads within the system and the person following the system?

Even though, the better player knows he is a hypocrite of this very thing because of how the brain will process information systematically to form pattern thinking about its existence, the existence of others. Then the brain will use this system in a moment of thinking rather than knowing to force the player then to follow past prior systematic thinking to pick out memories of moments good and bad of the results good and bad, this allow the brain to send mixed messages to then make a mistake against the better player.

My routines are to journal my failures, form new paths to better understand the same failures in another, the temptation of using ranges will not get me to truth but a support to the exact hand before the opponent defines my situation in the moment then bring into the existence the mistake. So, having worked on the concept of the exact, the concept of putting a person on an exact hand; from the time the hand is dealt the bets made, this process is being used not a system using me because of defining what is false about my opponent first.

From routines, this will form paths, these paths will be patterns of travel, after X amount of time the pattern becomes instinct the same way we just wake up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night when asleep.

A person should recognize how systems are used within learning etc... However, without defining how freedom will move thoughts then movements of the system will always be the thought first until a moment when a player is blocking your pattern of travel within a hand then have to be correct the first time with a brand new movement that a system did not have built into the path of travel unless the player designed as an alternate path of travel within the system first.

The existence of the alternate path to type would not need to be done if this existed within the system as a way to give options but if the system does not have options then freedom of movement will not be afforded because otherwise, it would not be called a system that has to be followed?

Knowing this how would the system, the math or other concepts below my thought process know what to do in these moments, moments I exist in? If the system knew these the brain would have known first to send the signal of system failure then made an alternate move. Unless a player goes deeper than a system for example, Harrington’s, the Super System as a way to explain system books to play a system of poker.

If the player were as good as these two books they would not have read them to begin with so, I will go out on a limb they are just imitating a system that is going to bring out the falseness of what they know about how to play this system or how to define how any system would be used against my thought process within their own system.

I am using my brain in these moments not my brain using me by what is systematic of the moment but by what I know in the moment that before this moment was the falseness of a move by my opponent. Otherwise the need to type mistake would not exist and why I failed would come into existence instead.

Using psychology allows for knowing the conditions of the moment, using philosophy will get closer to the point of origin, a fragment of the truth within the first existence of the absolute. Psychology will bring into existence the conditions of how the tree fell but does not get to the root of why the tree fell. Where philosophy will get closer to the truth the point of origin of the fall itself; how could freedom exist without seeing poker from these fields of perspective first to allow systematic thinking to be in its proper place to move into existence at the proper time as support to finding the facts surrounding the truth of the moment?

This to form a story to tell myself, a story to read about the moment within a fragment of the moment. A story to tell the opponent about the moment, this knowing my opponent is using a system for poker, from their own perspective do they know the perspective of my thoughts surrounding the moment or have come across this type of player until this moment?

Otherwise systematic thinking of a system first how a player would have freedom thought before making a mistake if I follow a system first? Then the other two fields of perspective would not exist or only exist for the opponent to use because the movements of existence their conditions that exist within their movements would not be in their proper place as a way to explain how a puzzle would be put together as a way of how we read an opponent in the moment?

The exact part is a self- actualization of the absolute, the “self” recognizing the movements of another in the moment whether at the start of the river of the hand or within a fragment of the moment within the existence of the truth, a fragment of the truth within the existence of the absolute. Breaking this down this allows for the mental game to form new mental muscle each day.

This allows freedom of thought how my moments will broke down to the point of origin of the absolute, a fun pain staking process for betterment of my game. Then using the concept of the exact as a way to measure then move down towards ranging, to thinking about all of this, not knowing any of this. Then ranging the thoughts of my opponents, are they applying or reading in the moment of how I am breaking down moments to bring into existence the absolute?

When my opponents are not breaking down, narrating their thoughts that are in concert with their actions my game will see what is false even when not in existence of the same hand, but now know moments in which to exploit my opponent. However, I am still a hypocrite of being systematic thinker, but a thinker, that knows moments, with a better path than those of my opponent.

This routine of breaking down my thoughts of my game others games is my routine, over and over practice, practice at and away from the table; anything listed as an outline would then only further the very thing that freedom does not exist within, the concept of systematic thinking. Freedom allows for all to exist especially in this forum where anything I type in this neat nice package because in here all possibility can exist, all probability can become actuality.

However, on the table it is the exact opposite of how we play by how we explain poker within forums. Knowing this why would I allow myself to use any systematic outline of thought to explain my routine rather than explaining how my routine works or how this is my path with an explanation of how to accomplish my routines to play as well as learn, better my game by pushing freedom within the moment to risk failure?

The same way I am risking failure now by posting this response by having freedom of speech for my game to express within this moment? This not to have a point A to point B start and stop mentality within my game but since there are no one absolute approach to success anyone can think, play the way they want that allows your post to be one that I and others should respect and follow if they believe this will be the path to success. By applying goals, now a person has to motivate themselves by applying new goals to achieve, freedom resigns in my game that allows my game to be on the rainbow of learning instead of finding the pot of gold, this keeps my brain constantly motivated without forming new ways, new goals to motivate my game instead.

The answers to your questions.

If you're an experienced player, what is different now from when you started? The divine feeling of nothing that comes from experiencing failure and success that comes from trying to win the last hand of a long running MTT, the concept of nothing when winning and losing become the same existence of itself within and just before the actuality of the last hand becoming my absolute last hand even when it is not the absolute last hand of the MTT.

Are you stuck in your game? No I am on a continuous journey stuck represents a stop in my game, a mental weakness of many. Would having a system help you move out of your stuckness? No it would allow more stops and starts in my games breakdowns in a continuous journey. I play against systems everyday including my own so, why would I risk ingraining more of the same in mine when I find opponents in moments to exploit this very being of a thing that is born from a word we give life to within the game of poker.
