I recently read an article about tournament strategy and it made me curious. The jist of the article was this. Do just opposite of everyone else at the table. If everyone is playing loose, you play tight. If everyone is playing tight, you loosen up. And you play this way through the entire tourney. Basically no matter what. So I was just curious if any of you have implemented a strategy similar or identical to this one. And if so, was it effective for you. Now I know that these two concepts are not groundbreaking. Almost poker 101. I'm mostly curious about doing this through the entire tourney. I've never tryed it thought I might drive it before I buy it, if I can get some feedback. Thanks.

It's probably a matter of "how aggressive or tight?" Trapping an overly aggressive player or stealing from overly tight players seem like sound strategies, but I don't think it should be generalized too much.

Doesn't make sense to me. Play the game as you know it. To be able to play the opposite of your opponents you need to be able to read your opponents well. However, that information could be used to adapt certain moves, not the whole game.

You have to constantly adjust to game conditions, from the beginning of a tournament to the end. You're opponents are going to learn your game otherwise, and you'll be at a disadvantage.

The last two post are pretty much what I was thinking. It didn't seem like a real good game plan to me either. But honestly, I haven't had a whole hell of a lot of success, so it doesn't hurt to try new things. But like I said, it didn't really seem like a real good methodology. That's why I thought I'd "drive it before I bought it". But if anyone else has any thoughts, I'm all ears. Thanks.
