Is AK always a 3bet??

Not when your trying to switch it up by calling but just in general.

Is it better to raise > get 3bet > call in position?

vs. raise > get 3bet > 4bet in position?

and being OOP

better to raise > get 3bet > 4bet out of position?

vs. raise > get 3bet > call OOP?

And if there is a TIGHT UTG raiser is AK an auto 3bet??

Thoughts plz!

I think that many people put way to much faith in AK i will usually only raise with this hand in late position if i am under the gun then i will limp most of the time or i will raise minimum because alot of people get weiry over the min raise for some reason. but i would say yes that it is definitly a raise in late pos but as to the UTG raiser it would be best just to call because all your trying to do is get alittle bit more money in the pot in case you AK hits which it only will 1/4 flops

AK is a great hand with loads of fold equity.

But if you 3 bet it preflop.. what else do you also 3 bet?

If AK is the 'weakest hand you 3 bet preflop with then you might as well just say to people.. hey i have AK, KK or AA.. want to take a shot????

Everyone will fold sure.. and you get the blinds.. sure but have you really got value from the hand? .. id say not really.

So raise it but call a raiser but look to see a flop. It should be more profitable in the long run if you do that

3-bet is fine, but you have to know what you're doing afterwards.

Calling can be fine, if you know what you're doing.

Folding is usually not the best play, but even that can be fine depending on the situation.

The best play depends not only on your position, but the level of competition, tourney status and chip stacks if it's a tourney, and player reads. Plus your own level of competence.

Helps alot to know the stats of your opponent when playing hands like AK...especially OOP. But AK is always a raise pre for me, and a 3Bet against a LAG player, but you gotta know when to lay it down. time and time again I see people overplay their AK like its aces or kings and get stacked off.

AK is overrated... It is almost as bad as JJ.

This question is very general as poker is very often situation specific.
AK is not always a 3bet, but most of the time it is. One situation where I would not 3bet AK is if a 8/4 nit raises utg and it folds to me in the big blind. In this case there is no value in 3betting because I'm either crushed, flipping, or tied and my equity advantage preflop is pretty much nil and there is no dead money in the pot. Another thing that might effect my decision is being out of position with large relative stack sizes that will make the hand very difficult to play
