My apologies if I am breaking etiquette rules as I have not even posted my introduction thread but I am a little ADD and had to post my thoughts on this .
I'd say the situation you are describing is EXACTLY what you should be hoping happens, hurry get all your chips in the pot! Obviously the fringe exceptions previously noted are good and valid points and those situations would need to e considered seperatly. Even 10 handed you should win something like 32% win and .05% to tie. So if you win, call it 1 out of 3. So your about 2:1 against but getting paid with 9:1 pot. Again there are a few fringe situatons where this doesn't hold up not many. If its a cash game and you are troubled with those odds
you are probably playing too high for you bank roll. If it a tourney then you push em in unless some weird circumstance is in play.
You WILL lose twice as many as you win ten handed but you getting paid for it in almost all situations.
HAHA exactly as I was writing this a tourney started with nearly identical scenario, First hand 50/100 10k chips to start I was in middle position and dealt pocket aces. 2 players called the BB, 1 raise to 300 so I called. The flop came: 7c, 9d, Ac. A little scarey but... player 1 bet 300, a call and a raise to 9700. I could not get my chips in fast enough. One fold and a call. The pot is little over 30750. The turn comes Ks... the river 9c! I almost puked untill I realized the 9 paired the board and made my house Start the tourney with 3 times the chips of everyone else... Wish me luck
