It doesn't cost them anything. Why not? They can get a bunch of chips and win....

What really happens is that the donkeys may win a hand or two and get a few thousand chips but lose them soon after.

Freerolls can be a hard way to go and frustrating. Usually, I wait for a good hand and I'm all in also. After that, I tighten up.

Like coakley said, players in freerolls have nothing to lose, so they try to beat the variance shoving and waiting for the best. But , generally speaking, I recommend you to look for Freerolls as the offered by CardsChat, with a more selected field.

most players that play freerolls realy dont care and will push first hand-now in forum freerolls like cards chat youll find exact opposite for most part-there alot tougher than regular frerrolls with better players than ul find in non forum freerolls

You really need to get $5.00+ tournaments before you start avoiding some of this madness. I find that once you get through the first half of the field, most of the donkeys are gone and things actually settle down.

yeah, I'm new to this and get frustrated when people go all in straight out the gate. I pretty much now just fold until things settle down; even if I have a decent hand where I'd normally raise.

They also get use to hitting monsters with their junk hands way more often than the odds say they should is my theory.

Yeah I agree that it is annoying, especially in freerolls where there is almost no cash incentive any you're probably just trying to learn the game. I would suggest trying to play some micro stakes tournies- even the $1 tournies are a lot better in standard than the freerolls. Maybe the cardschat freerolls are also of a better standard of you try to join them... I've yet to find out 😜

I think it's mostly just people blowing off steam, about the same as play money.

If you're going to win anything you're going to be playing for a few hours to take home maybe a couple dollars so sometimes it's just a chance to play around for a hand or so, no risk and have a few laughs for the one that takes it down 4 ways with 63o while the ones that had QQ and AK berate in chat. You can only lose a tournament on the first hand, never win it.

Yea that happens all the time, usually in those tournaments, when time has passed, and you are already 1 hour in the tournament, you don't see it that often, but in the beginning happens almost every hand

If you are going to play freerolls it is a part of the first few hands of each tourney. Just ride it out until things calm down.

Nothing to lose, gives you bully status if you win, or need to go to the bathroom in a hurry.

People come because that would double your bank they are not interested in the game! Consider if free admission, do not think long, double the bank or get out! So do fish beginners! This game starts in 30 minutes, when all the fish out of the game!

When 5 people are all in, there are good odds to call with anything to try and get lucky, If i pick up like QQ+ in a free roll, i jam the 1st hand cause i know everyone will think i have k5 and call, i still lose a lot of times in this spot but no big deal.

At least 50% of players go allin during the beggining of freerolls with almost any hand for some reasons:
1. They have nothing to lose, only win, they think that going all in with anything at the start improves their chances to win (it doesnt)
2. They are impacient and want the money now, or nothing. They dont want to spend hours playing a calculated and quality poker.
3. Amateur players tend to gamble more, and rely too much on luck, they are playing just for fun and want to win quickly.

With that in mind, if you want to go deep in those tournaments i would suggest you to play very tight at first, dont call any all in during the first 10 minutes, just if you have a premium hand like AA, KK, QQ, AKs.

After you pass though the all ins phase, then you can start trying to steal blinds, having a postflop action and playing real poker. Try to take those advices into consideration and tell me if you do better or worse. See you at the tables :)

weaker players is plain and simple fact they have no confidence so need big chip stacks in order to win or hope to win. Sadly even with big chip stacks when get down to say 30 99.99999999999 % of the time or them of the time they go out and dont really money anyway. I think in last 3 months I have seen two times where down to 30 was a terrible player in freerolls on wpn or bol sleeves that i ran into.

They think that doubling up early will give them a better chance to win and it costs them nothing to try. Its a quick rush for them. Its always funny to see that the people leading the freerolls at the beginning few levels are rarely the ones in the money.

it's a Freeroll, nothing to lose, but to double up in the beginning of the tournament will be very good, in one word, freerolls

They have nothing to loose and .. i would like to think that they cant do any better. they dont last very long usually. It's sad to fold devent hands against tem but loosing with AA doesnt feel better.
