hi all. making the transition from mtts to cash for a variety of reasons. Just had a couple of questions if I may.
Thanks

1) What sort of buy-in brm should i have? I am sure I read on the strateg articles on here that it should be 30 (cannot find it now), but has this changed?

2) any good thoughts or threads on 6 max / full ring / heads up?

3) any other good advice? Because I am from the UK I can play on ipoker, but traffic and software are not always good. Is pokerstars a real shark fest, even as low as 10NL?

Hey
I just made the same transition. I like a deeper BR, some people advocate 20, I went for 45.
I dabbled in 6max but after talking to some other people I was informed that a 4bb/100 win rate is very rare in 6max. Its a bit more aggressive and I had a tough time multitabling 4 games.
I am on Stars and yes there are a lot of regs but no real sharks at 10nl (thats what Im playing).
HU and 6max will have more variance than FR so a bigger BR would be nice if you're gonna take on the short tables.
PT3 or HEM is a must if you're serious. As is hand analysis. I try to post 3 or 4 hands a week at least. There are some really helpful people here.
Good luck

never start something in the middle, you may have the money or the "skills" to play at 10nl but do yourself a favor and start at 2nl, it sucks that you have to play against the worst of the worst but it grants you 3 main things:
1)cheap education and we all want that
2) the confidence of being overrolled and with it comes the confidence in your decisions because 1 buy in is not significant.
3) confidence

also we all have many good and bad thoughts about those game formats, I sometimes even have bad dreams about FR... just sitting and never playing, sitting and sitting and sitting and sitting.....
Where are you aiming? poker questions should be focused and direct, what is bothering you and what do you want answered?

btw the 3rd bullet labeled confidence is directed at the confidence you should feel after beating a level, you should feel good about yourself once you beat it and that will help you to weather bad beats in the future.

whats the main difference between online poker game and the real poker game playing on table?
i think the most different between online poker and real poker table is that in the real poker table you canThrough his facial expressions or movements or to speculate on what he's good or bad cards in his hands, but online poker is diffcult to do that.

Thanks people. Most appreciative. Do most people here play 6 max, FR or HU? What is generally the best game overall (in terms of all factors: excitement / opposition calibre / variance etc).
