What does a raise on the flop mean when i raised 2 and half x the bb preflop from mid position and called by the button. it's heads up and i have let's say A10's. flop comes A'c 9'd 4's - Good board for a c-bet right around half pot or more i have top pair decent kicker and the backdoor nut flush. But what do i do if my opponent raises me here what could he have. Is it a bluff. Does he think he has the best hand and he wants a bigger pot. Has he flopped trips hoping i have AK and he's going for value. Does he think im weak...... Do i call the raise here hoping i improve on the turn? say i call his raise and the turn comes and it's the 2'd. What should my action be now? do i check to him and be faced with a turn bet.. Do i lead out and say i think i have the best hand knowing he might raise again and i have to fold. This is a similar spot im finding myself in alot and im giving up what might be the best of it and calling down with the worst thinking my opponents bluffing trying to take the betting lead and push me around. just seems like a strange move to me cause your folding out weaker hand's and all of the time stronger hands are calling.

Next time put some spaces between your long paragraphs. No one wants to read a huge sentence.

Anyways, its hard to determine what he has based on your post. You would need history with this person. It could mean he thinks youre C betting with air and he wants to see where he stands. With A10 here and a raise, I am usually calling and evaluating his turn move. If he bets hard, I usually let it go.

wrong bluffs usually leave disproportionate betting patterns between the streets, 'scare cards' etc.

watch closely for such abnormalities and you might be able to narrow down their hand range.

Over a period of time, you'd be able to put them (your opponents) on a narrower and narrower range.

What you're saying in the first sentence could also mean that BTN has position over you and is very determined to steal. :D

It's not that easy to be certain about what your opponent has at this spot and why he is doing such a thing at such spots. You have to have some kind of information on your opponent's play or a read to help you play the hand a bit better and figure out how to go about playing the hand.

What kind of ranges does he play, you have to remember the hands he played and how he played them in the last say 30 minutes and this will hopefully give you the right information you need. Whether he is doing it with middlepair (playing loose) or he has to have a set or two pair atleast (super tight) or anything random.

If nothing comes to mind and your opponent continues to show strength then tell him "I am letting you off but just this one time". ;)
