When I first started playing, I found that the quality of play at at the beginner levels was too low to practice in any useful way. I would watch real $ games and they would play a completely different style than the "donks" at the lowest levels. I also noticed that higher level play chips games seemed to be better quality. However, I found myself impatient with "donks" seeming to all in with absolutely anything, which made it difficult to get a bankroll of playchips to get out of the 250 chip level.

So I devised this way to attain a large amount of play chips quickly so I could practice against more realistic competition. (on Full Tilt)

Here are the Steps:
1-Reload your PlayChips
2-Join four 90 player 250 chip tourney
3-All in, on the first hand (many will follow)
4-If you win --> Minimize the Game. (you should have about 5-10k chips)
5-Wait a few minutes
6-repeat step 1-5
7-Keep doing this till you have the max games open with 5k-10k chips
8-Multi-table your games and only play the best hands, till your at the final tables on the remaining tables. (honestly, you can get there with about 7k from the start and then not playing at all after)
9-play the remaining final tables as best you can.

you should be able to get to at least 40k playchips in a couple of hours, which should allow play at at least 2k for a while.

fyi if mods find this innapropriate circumvention of the system, feel free to delete this post :). I found this 'strategy' helpful though to get better experience with higher quality opponents.

i sometimes play the highest playchip sngs on pokerstars, i have 4 million play chips, this is how i did it: start off like everyone else, reload chips, play 9 man sngs, as many at a time as you can. before moving up the stakes make sure you have enaugh playchips to play at least 4 of the 9 man sngs.

before i ever made a dollar from poker, i first made millions of playchips and played for hours. definitely the game is really bad, but if you want to play real cash, i think, first you must be able to get tons of playchips.

also, i believe that the 200.000 playchip buyins on pokerstars is close to 1$ buyin for sngs, so its good practice.

agreed. i like the idea of playing on full tilt and working up to 2 mil chips than playing in the 40$ for 500k play chip tourneys. Good way to get started when learning.

When I began learning about poker 7 months ago, I too learned using play chips. But eventually got bored and moved to freerolls. I never did amass huge numbers of play chips though because I finally quit & played the freerolls & now with real money. I do like your ideas of playing at the higher levels & as many tables at a time as you are able to do. I may try it again for some extra practice. I've never played with play chips on Fulltilt though,,,I always did it on UB!:)

I'm mostly playing play money games right now, no BR and don't play that many freerolls atm. Over the weekend I got over 100k chips so I've started playing the 10k games. If nothing else it's fun, which is the main reason I play anyway.
