It depends:

Stack sizes?
Number of players in the hand?
Villians Stats?
Cash or tournament?
Full ring, 6 max, HU?
Phase of the moon?
What color underwear do you have on?
Position at the table?
3rd letter of your middle name?
Do you think poker is rigged?

For me unless i'm under the gun I always bet aces big pre flop. I'd much rather pick up some blinds then have AA get cracked. I've seen it too many times when people low ball or don't bet at all and then can't get away from them when they know they should.

If I've got a LAG that's been raising every pot sitting to my left, I'll limp and then wait for the raise. Hopefully a few people will come along for the ride before it gets back to me and then I can reraise and trap the callers. Of course as soon as you plan on this the LAG will surely limp or fold preflop!!

I raise preflop just enough to scare out the very weak hands

after flop turns over bet agressive ... be aware of callers & board

then bet judging according to others actions

Interesting, I may have to ask the table what kind of underwear they are wearing just so I know where I stand against the table.
BTW, what other colors of underwear should I look for and what do they indicate as to what kind of player wears what?

DEBATABLE!!!!!!

There has been a long running Question about that very question here on the site with the amount of times AA is delt and the amount won and really it is a toss up I have played both ways all in and slow play it depends on the way cards are falling and where your position is at the table AA is dangerious no matter how it is played in my opinion LOL

I myself always bet 3x the big blind with AA no matter what the position call me crazy if you like but i very rarely have them cracked...then again everytime i raise its 3x's the big blind unless the blinds are really low or high then i change it up a lil bit

I play micro stakes and if the table is fairy loose, most evenings it is. I will Just move all in pre flop and 90% I get 1 caller. Which is the perfect number for aces. And they usually have hands that dont play well vs AA, such as TT-KK or Ace trash. If you raise 6xBB pre flop you can get called by danger hands like 67s

Reasons to bet AA pre-flop:

1) You know you have the best hand and want to get more money into the pot. Preferably all of it...

2) You'll get plenty of worse hands to call.

3) You want to give your self the best chance to win by limiting (not eliminating) the field.

4) If you aren't going to bet the best hand then what hand are you going to bet???

Reasons NOT to bet AA pre-flop:

1) You KNOW that some one will raise behind you giving you the opportunity to re-raise.

2) You KNOW that if you raise then EVERYONE will fold.

3) Deception... Which really isn't a good reason for the majority of us.

I'm a big fan of raising w/ AA everytime. You're betting with the absolute certainty that you're getting the best of it which doesn't happen very often.

This is why im actually not that great a fan of AA.. sure its an amazing hand preflop but post flop you still have to be prepared to fold it.

Preflop I just put in a standard raise.. most fold to this.

An all in.. usually earns me less than playing it postflop

Depends on the situation, as others have discussed above.

One thing I will say though is that I'm a hell of a lot more likely to bet AA for value than I am to bet them so that someone doesn't catch. Hell, preflop you're a favourite even against multiple callers. Bet that for value and because you want to make the moneyz, not because you're scared of a suckout.

I say make a large raise (4x the bb) in order to get limpers out. It is better to win the blinds then get \cracked

Preflop when I'm in late position with no callers I might consider slow playing. Minimum bet at most. After the flop or so I would check to see what the flop is like and what draws are out there. Wouldn't want someone to catch a 2 pair on me. Might end up betting hard if I don't want them calling.

I play them 'medium'. And it depends on postion. Let's say med-late position.... 1st time 3x BB - 2nd time (if nothing TOO scary 5 - 8x, just take it down). Truth is, I will play these lighter than a QQ (might be an al-in). If the flop looks scary, 10x+ or all-in. TOO scary, like a board flush, and 4 in, maybe be prepared to eat it.
